JaMarcus Russell (Thread Of Obesity and Codeine)

This story has started to really make the rounds..........

Supposedly, Tom Cable wanted to bench him, but Crazy Al said no, so Cable gave Russell a DVD one day and said "Check out this weeks game plan and get back to us".

A day or two later, Cable and Davis are talking and Russell walks by. Cable says "So, what did you think of the gameplan?" and Russell says "Looks good, Coach, I'm on board".

Cable looks to Al Davis and says, "We gave him a blank DVD".
At that point, Davis signed off on the benching

The great thing about that story is that it doesn't matter if it's true. It's at least plausible.

I google searched lethargy addiction to see if I could find a medical excuse for my own patheticness. Only to find that articles on JaMarcus Russell. My favorite mention on the subject came from this gem in a profootballtalk article.

The contention has since taken on a life of its own, with multiple people believing that: (1) laziness is now recognized as a condition; (2) there's a treatment center for it; and (3) Russell has been enrolled in it.

I for one fully believe that The JaMarcus Russell Lethargy Addiction Treatment Center will truly change and improve more lives than the Betty Ford Clinic.

It's not Russell's fault--his remote was broken and he would have had to walk all the way across the room from the couch to start the DVD. It's cruel to demand that kind of effort from a man combating a disabling addiction. He should sue.

That's an urban myth that is perpetuated any time a quarterback struggles. I've read that on a Tennessee site regarding Jonathan Crompton and David Cutcliffe, when he was benched.

I'd hate for anyone to read this as a defense of JaMarcus Russell, but the fact he's been the Raider QB is not the only, or even the primary, reason the Raiders have sucked. Raiders sucked long before they drafted this loser. Raider suckitude has so, so many things behind it.

He literally ate himself out of the league. Unreal

1% obesity
99% inaccuracy/lack of touch/stupidity

If the guy could read a defense or hit the broad side of a barn with anything other than a 100mph fastball he'd be fine at his 300ish lb playing weight.
