Frankly, the subject of the trial sickens me to my stomach, so I couldn't follow the case at all. I couldn't tell you if "Jax" is innocent or not.
I will say this, however, the state of the legal system in this country today sickens me. If you are rich, you are hereby above the law: you can commit double-murders, you can rape women, you can lie to the Grand Jury, you can molest children, whatever .. and the victims of these crimes go without justice.
To me, if a loved one is murdered, seeing the killer go to jail is a small consolation (b/c it doesn't bring back the one who was taken from you), but nowadays, they don't even get that.
I know a guy here in CT whose father is a very rich man. The kid has no social skills, an anger problem, and is in and out of the courts constantly. But, because he can afford to hire a lawyer like Mickey Sherman (he of the Skakel case), he gets off with no consequences & continues to pull his shit.
For example, his ex-girlfriend (who is an aspiring lawyer), broke up with him. He got mad, and e-mailed her entire law firm on a blast message with gruesome details about how she likes it in the ol' back door in bed (if you catch my meaning). The kid was red-handed guilty, the girl was held back for promotions (whether or not she had anything to do with it is irrelevant, the fact that it did happen looks bad), and the kid got off scot-free ("Not Guilty" verdict) to commit more crimes (I think a few months ago he got picked up for attacking his landscaping guy who accidentally blew leaves on his car).
What's wrong with our legal system???
