So JP will never play in a bowl game for Michigan? Unbelievable. What are the odds?

I thought it was by far the most impact he had on a game all season. He made zero mistakes.

How do I know this, the announcers reminded me on every big play for FSU that Peppers would have made a difference, even on a Speight throw in the end zone that was behind the receiver. Evidently Jabrillll was missed in scum pass game too.

Never seen anything like it.
The most overhyped player in CFB history, and there ain't a close second.

1. Jabrill Peppers
2.
3. Rudy
4. Manti Te'o
5. Ron Powlus

There's a trend developing as we round out the top 5.
So funny. I had this exact discussion with my 72 year old dad that has watched so much college football over the past 60 years it isn't funny and he remembers everything. We both agreed Te'o was a distant second in the over hyped category.

The closest comparison that I can think of - and it's not really all that close - is Gordie Lockbaum. For those of you who don't remember, Lockbaum was a media darling who played for Holy Cross in the mid-80s. Like Peppers, Lockbaum was a multi-purpose player (CB, RB, WR, KR, PR, and even threw a pass or two). Unlike Peppers, Lockbaum actually produced on the field (4,244 all-purpose yards and 44 TDs in his final two seasons, 5 career interceptions), albeit at a low level of competition. Despite playing for a Division I-AA team, Lockbaum captivated the media to such an extent that he placed fifth in the 1986 Heisman voting and third in 1987. Predictably, Lockbaum was too short/small/slow for the NFL and quickly found a career selling insurance. Today, Lockbaum is the subject of numerous Where Are They Now? stories. Peppers will be in the same place thirty years from now.

you have Powlus way too low

he and Gerbil are 1a and 1b in my mind and I wouldn't argue too hard over which is which

I will say this though, Powlus managed to be arguably as overhyped in an era with 1/3 of the media available to overhype with these days.
