I had a brief exchange with a PFF data scientist about the Vikings QB situation in the 2024 off-season. Went like this.

PFF: Vikings have a need, they should take McCarthy.

Me: Drafting Just off need is a terrible idea. He's a marginal prospect at best and this doesn't move the needle for your team.

PFF: Yes, but they have a need and NEED to address it.

Me: Not like that you don't. And selecting the wrong QB isn't addressing the need, it only makes it worse.

PFF: We have a 1st round grade on him.

Me: Yeah, you had Corey Coleman as your 1st overall WR too.



I appreciate anything that people use to help further advance their knowledge of the game and to contribute to the conversation. But there are L's so big, that when you take them, an embargo should be put on your ability to boldly evaluate personnel. Some of these data geeks just love playing with numbers, my business partner included, and hardly watch their prospects.
