J.J. McCarthy (once a tCun, always a tCun)

1). Has one of the games brightest young coaches
2). Has a top 3 WR in the sport
3). Better than average running backs
4). Vikings defense is pretty good!

I don't know how things could be laid out any better for JJM. Sam Darnold won 14 games last year with the same squad.
He just can't be asked to throw more than 20 times a game. They gotta take the ball out of his hands

Now out 2-4 weeks with an ankle injury.

They do that in baseball when a guy is just absolutely sucking hind tit, he gets a phantom trip to the DL instead of sent down to the minors or cut.

Which is what one says about all the really great QB's.....
I remember a couple years ago there was a Heisman contending QB, something happened, and all of a sudden he's throwing 3 passes in the biggest game of the season. So it's definitely not unheard of to take the ball out of the hands of a great QB.

“Guys got a cannon on him. Receivers need to go deeper to turn those overthrows into catches.”
I don't know if you're joking or not, but I think we've all heard announcers hype up a player even when he screws up. Remember Donovan McNabb? He got hurt near the beginning of the season one year. His backup led the team to the playoffs. I think the Eagles had a good defense, or something. Anyway, the next year, McNabb came back and everyone was gushing about how great the team would be. That maybe have been 2004 - didn't they make it to the Super Bowl that year? So, I'm not saying they were wrong. Anyway, there'd be plays where the receiver ran right and he threw it left for an interception. Or stuff like that. And the announcers would talk about how the receiver ran the wrong route. How can they say that's a wrong route? Do they know the play that was called? Or maybe it was a read - McNabb read one thing and the receiver read something else. Well, McNabb threw it to the defender, so I can't be sure he made the smarter choice.
All that to say that if your quote was something that was really said, I can believe it, as dumb as it sounds.
