J.J. McCarthy (once a tCun, always a tCun)

Former Ohio State quarterback target J.J. McCarthy committed to Michigan on Saturday. Why is that news? Because the Buckeyes could have had McCarthy if they wanted, but they ultimately landed Philadelphia quarterback Kyle McCord instead.

The decision to bring in Kyle McCord, knowing full well it would likely send McCarthy in the direction of the Wolverines, could shape the future of the greatest rivalry in sports for the foreseeable future. Day and the Buckeyes had the first pick and first shot for McCarthy and went in a different direction.

Do you even QB Whisperer bro?

Look at the impact Jim Harbaugh has had on the QB's he's tutored the past 4 years.

Ruddock and Speight have literally made hundreds of dollars as 3rd string QB's in the NFL.

Tough for kids to look past that.

I've watched what I can on both and honestly I would have been happy with either one. McCarthy can throw the ball a mile and is probably a little better athlete when it comes to escapability. McCord has such great touch on the ball and can really throw guys open. In his film, McCarthy is throwing to a lot of wide open guys whereas McCord's film shows him fitting some balls into some really tight windows. He's great on timing and shallow routes, which we know Day loves. What I really like about McCord is his ability to change arm angels ala Baker. He can make all the throws and can adjust to pressure in his face without bailing. He's also got a great build...approaching college-ready size whereas McCarthy will get killed if he's still playing at his current weight. OSU and Michigan both got really good QBs in the '21 class...the big question is how they are developed.
