I thought the rumor was that they would listen to trade offers for spin-pass.
Just sayin': Apparently there are multiple conflicting rumors, including these three:
1. The Vikings are holding on to spin-pass at least for the 2025 season....
According to a report on Sunday, the Minnesota Vikings have no plans to trade rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy during the upcoming 2025 NFL offseason.

J.J. McCarthy trade rumors get a new wrinkle from notable NFL insider
Given the impressive success of Sam Darnold during the 2024 campaign, some have wondered if the Minnesota Vikings could trade rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy in the upcoming 2025 offseason.
It's been nothing more than speculation, and on Sunday, NFL Media's Tom Pelissero shared that the Vikings have no plans to trade McCarthy in 2025. Pelissero elaborated on the report and shared why Minnesota isn't expected to send the young quarterback packing in the offseason even if they re-sign Darnold.
"There is no reason for the Vikings to consider trading their first-round pick J.J. McCarthy, a young player that they really like. He's missed his entire rookie season following knee surgery. That's a lot of missed reps. It's going to take him time to get back up to speed, and frankly, Sam Darnold, this season, is a tough act to follow."
J.J. McCarthy trade rumors are not expected to become a reality for Minnesota Vikings in 2025
It's completely fair to speculate that the Vikings might be willing to consider trading McCarthy in the upcoming offseason, especially if Darnold is able to lead the team to the NFC Championship or Super Bowl.
But before Sunday, the only reports about McCarthy possibly getting traded in the offseason have come from the perspective of teams outside of Minnesota's locker room. As for Pelissero's report, that sounds more like something that was shared with him by someone who is an actual member of the Vikings.
Unfortunately, the trade chatter around McCarthy is likely going to continue until he's made the full-time starting quarterback by the Vikings. That's just the nature of how the NFL rumor mill works these days.
If Minnesota re-signs Darnold later this year and he ends up having another good season in 2025, then the team potentially trading McCarthy is something that will probably become a more legitimate possibility.
For now, though, the plan for the Vikings is that McCarthy will be on the team's roster for the 2025 season, regardless of whether Minnesota re-signs Darnold this year or not.
2. The Vikings could trade spin-pass to the highest bidder before the 2025 season.
The Minnesota Vikings lost their first-round rookie quarterback JJ McCarthy for the season, turning to Sam Darnold who has led them to a 14-3 record with the former's name now appearing in trade talks

JJ McCarthy trade rumors take new twist after debut NFL season disappointment
The Minnesota Vikings lost their first-round rookie quarterback JJ McCarthy for the season, turning to Sam Darnold who has led them to a 14-3 record with the former's name now appearing in trade talks
His excellent play has left many stating that the Vikings cannot allow Darnold to leave this offseason, needing to re-sign him to a deal to continue to enhance the likes of Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, while being set to become a free agent this offseason.
However, the Vikings have McCarthy ready and waiting for 2025, after drafting him with the 10th overall selection in last year's class before losing him to a season-ending injury with Darnold coming in his place.
McCarthy could be traded for potentially a first-round pick, allowing the Vikings to continue to build around Darnold and improve on one of the better team's in the NFL this season - with the New York Jets, Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks all reportedly interest in a deal for the former Michigan Wolverines National Championship winner.
3. The Vikings are trading spin-pass to the Browns before the 2025 season....
The Cleveland Browns Are Going to Replace Deshaun Watson By Trading With the Minnesota Vikings For JJ McCarthy
While Week 18 didn’t go as planned for the Minnesota Vikings, they still finished 14-3, and one of the best teams in the league all while having Sam Darnold under center. Looking ahead at 2025, the Vikings have a quarterback position decision to make.
After drafting JJ McCarthy in the 2024 NFL Draft, it seemed as though he was going to be the future of the franchise for Minnesota. After suffering a torn meniscus in his knee during the preseason, McCarthy has missed his entire rookie season. This allowed Darnold to step up and take over the starting spot, a role in which he has not looked back on. With how Darnold has commanded the support of the locker room, played at an MVP level, and having the experience factor, it would be ideal for the Vikings to bring him back. For McCarthy, the Vikings can trade him and get immense return value with the 2025 NFL Draft class being weak at the quarterback position.
With that in mind, that is where the Cleveland Browns come into play.
It was announced that Deshaun Watson, who looked as though he was going to take the starting role back in 2025 after a contract restructure, had suffered a setback in his ACL recovery and could miss next season. The Browns showed they don’t have an answer at quarterback currently, and need to figure out the future of the position.
With Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, the current general manager of the Vikings, coming from the Browns, there are already ties to the organization. With McCarthy, he would bring youth, and upside to the quarterback position that would allow the Browns to fully reset. McCarthy, before the injury, in the one preseason game he played, put up 188 yards and two touchdowns with just one interception while completing 11-of-18 passes. With his accuracy and ability to create plays outside the pocket when needed, he is an ideal trade candidate for the Browns.
