JJ McCarthy loses bet with Vikings defense on first day of practice: 'I've got to stop talking smack'
JJ McCarthy got his first 'welcome to the NFL' moment.
Former Michigan quarterback JJ McCarthy received a "welcome to the NFL moment" during his first practice with the Minnesota Vikings. The No. 9 overall pick in the NFL Draft bet the Vikings defense a round of post-practice sprints that he would throw fewer than four incompletions during a 16-play drill. He lost.
"If you guys saw, I was out there running," McCarthy told the media after practice.
McCarthy jawed with undrafted linebacker KJ Cloyd, a Miami product, before the drill. Cloyd picked off McCarthy a few moments later and pointed his finger at the former Wolverine as he returned it for a touchdown.
