The match was called due to darkness yesterday after 4 sets.

They started the 5th set today a little after 2 pm in England, and stopped after about 7 hours, with the score tied 59-59 in the 5th set.

Isner has a record 98 aces in the match, and Mahut has 95. The previous record was 78, held by Ivo Karlovic.

They'll resume the match tomorrow.

edit - they'll head back out to Court 18 "not before 3:30" London time (10:30 ET).

This match was/is surreal. Shame that they couldn't finish it. Isner definitely wanted to play on, probably because he doesn't know (or does know) how he'll feel tomorrow.

I think it was good for Isner to have it stopped. He looked a lot more tired than Mahut, and he could hardly run at all. He kept coming up with serves when he needed them, though.

Isner appealed to continue play when the official halted the match, but it appeared to be inspired more by fan's reaction than an adreniline rush against his repressed fatigue.
What is interesting is T. D. Bakker was facing a tough 2nd round match after winning a brutal 4 plus hour 1st rounder which included a 16-14, 5th set tie breaker.
His 2nd round opponent will be none other than the winner of Isner and Mahut.
Wimbledon will have their hands full with scheduling if Isner-Mahut (not to start before 3:30 pm) does not finish tomorrow.
