First a thread about eggs and its goddamn dragon eggs or some such shit, now a thread about spoons and nothing about a bigger, faster, more efficient one or all the delectible things a spoon can hold.

The guys at the ESPN board warned me this place was confusing as hell.

I've been reading a lot of philosophy from Husserl as of late, so let me see if I can apply his thinking to this question:

The spoon exists, but only subjectively. We can not objectively say that the spoon exists as it is external to our inner thoughts and experiences. Objectively, we can only state that our perceptions of the spoon exist, because our consciousness is the only objective reality we can affirm.

Therefore, if we can objectively determine that the essence of our experience with the phenemenon of the spoon is that it exists, then we can be relatively confident that the spoon subjectively exists outside of ourselves.

The spoon is a metaphor for many things. It could be your life. It could be your serving of Nutraloaf. It could be a second chance for a football team! :tongue2: The knife may have been the first tool. But the spoon brought us into the light out of the dark ages. The spoon gives us focus.
