Is Scheduling a Big Out of Conference Game Worth It?

I get very annoyed with all the hypocrits that knock schools for not scheduling strong OOC opponents, but then turn around and hype teams that have great records, but played no-one. Oregon's only decent OOC opponent was Fresno St. Not to discredit Fresno St. but a BCS school should be required to play a BCS opponent to even qualify for consideration. Even Rutgers scheduled BCS school.

If we are not going to have a play-off, then the media and poll voters should penalize teams that do not schedule BCS oppoents. I'm all for giving the mid majors an opportunity to play the big name schools, but teams have 3-4 games to schedule one BCS opponent.

As for OSU scheduling the college football cream of the crop - I love it. It is very difficult to win national championships. Stars must align properly and the ball needs to bounce in your favor to really compete for NC's. Everyone of our players will remember playing Texas this year. All of our underclassmen will have the Texas week to prepare for next season and USC and Miami in seasons to come. If we win 50% of those games, we will be in the hunt for an NC. That's good in my book, and it sets a statement for our recruits that we will play anyone, anytime, anywhere.

I was reading today an article in the Trib about the Oregon people, who are basically whoring themselves out for the Fiesta Bowl. The Oregon guy's best point was his only point, and that was "If they want to take teams with 2 losses, that's their business." 2 losses? How about taking teams who didn't play frigging Montana? That's all he had...number of losses, because they got creamed by USC. It's obvious they have no bargaining power, and part of that is because of our game with Texas. I think people realize this will be a decision that will potentially make the entire NCAA take notice of what will happen when good teams play each other, or Montana.

I think they will make the right choice.

Well let's see here...With the NCAA allowing a 12th game, maybe the Ducks would like to schedule US so they don't get put in this situation again. I think we can find an open date for you Ducks...But we're no Montana, so how about it? Gonna step up and play some competition?
