There's a rubber ring that goes around the ear bud that keeps the bud from sliding out of your ear. Mine has already totally worn off after only a year of medium use at the gym.

One of the first accessory purchases by most listeners is to pick up a better set of ear buds than the stock Apple ones.

Not only will you get much better build quality but the difference in sound quality is significant as well.

You've worn out your rubber at the gym?

Damn. I can't believe Mili hasn't totally hit this one out of the park yet!

I have the Shure i2c's for my iPhone. Very happy with them, particularly given they're under $40 now at Amazon (originally $120).

For iPods, since you don't need the inline mic, the e2c is the same driver.

My earbuds are [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Etymotic-ER-4P-Portable-In-Ear-Earphones/dp/B0007WZLDC"]Etymotic ER-4Ps[/ame], they're more comfortable for me than the typical ear canal designs.

Finally figured out how to shuffle my individual playlists.

Tell me if anyone else hasthis issue with their earbuds?

get yourself a pair of good noise isolating earphones. you'll be amazed at what you've been missing. NuForce makes some for $50 that are getting rave reviews at Head-fi.org. Zagg has Z.budds for $65 that have some pretty cool features... there is a very high ceiling as well. you can easily drop $300+ on studio quality phones... and then there are the portable amps, which i've just discovered. my wallet is smoking right now...

edit: er, i'm later to the party...

Shure SE310

I just got a pair of the Shure SE310 Noise isolating ear buds "gifted" to me this morning in the mail. These things are absolutely incredible. The noise isolation is tremendous and the sound quality is gorgeous. The high's are high, the bass is rich, yet not overpowering, and the vocals are spot on. I just plugged them in and have been sampling different types of music from my iTunes and I've already heard subtleties in the music I had long since forgotten about.

Shure - SE310 Sound Isolating Earphones

You can get them cheaper elsewhere, but the specs are easiest read from there site.
