    • It's pretty hard to only score 9 points when your opponent turns it over 8 times but ISU pulled it off, their first win in Lincoln since 1977 (which I'm sure is the Stone Age to some of you).

    Tough day for Bo Pelini and likely a tougher night for dogs and wives in Nebraska. :paranoid:

    Nebraska as an elite program was destroyed as soon as Solich was fired. The abandonment of the option and the walk-on program basically destroyed a system where high school football in Nebraska worked as a funnel into the program. After 2 or 3 years of the new system, there was never a question of going back. Now Nebraska has to compete for recruits nationally, and who really wants to go to school in Nebraska? IT used to be that they cornered the market on Option players, but now it looks like Georgia Tech may fill that void.

    Well Tech isn't paying Paul Johnson worth a damn. So if they're interested in getting their persona back - I'm sure he'd take the call.

    Callahan definitely pooched everything. It's not so much the option as it was scrapping all the traditions (like the walk-on program you mentioned) and not giving a shit about the defense, which is what really cost him/them. Pelini is trying, and he's actually doing a good job, but it ain't the Big 2 + 6 days anymore, and they were going to find that out eventually anyway.

    I think it is too late at this point. I am sure thay can be competative every few years, but they will never be as dominant as they were.

    I always think of Nebraska when people talk about OSU coaching changes. Just a lesson in what can happen when administrators make decisions over successful coaches.

    That being said... Embarrassing as hell. I'd like Nebraska to be good again.

    I used to dislike Nebraska when they were good, simply because they were too good... Now that they are mediocre, I really feel for their fans - some of the best and most knowledgable fans in college football.
