Bucks Take Game 1
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State baseball team posted six runs on 11 hits, while junior left-hander Tanner Tully tossed seven scoreless innings in a 6-0 shutout win over Iowa in the series opener Friday night at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. With their third shutout of the season, the Buckeyes improve to 30-15-1 overall and 9-7 in Big Ten play. The Hawkeyes drop to 21-22 overall and 7-9 in league play.
“I’m pleased with our performance tonight,” head coach Greg Beals said. “That’s Ohio State baseball and that’s what we are capable of. We played against a really good baseball team tonight. This is the time of year when we need to be dynamic with extra-base hits and turning double plays. Tanner competed on the mound and we were ready to hit the pitch we were looking for. I was happy with our offense.”
