  • Bucks Take Game 1

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State baseball team posted six runs on 11 hits, while junior left-hander Tanner Tully tossed seven scoreless innings in a 6-0 shutout win over Iowa in the series opener Friday night at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. With their third shutout of the season, the Buckeyes improve to 30-15-1 overall and 9-7 in Big Ten play. The Hawkeyes drop to 21-22 overall and 7-9 in league play.

“I’m pleased with our performance tonight,” head coach Greg Beals said. “That’s Ohio State baseball and that’s what we are capable of. We played against a really good baseball team tonight. This is the time of year when we need to be dynamic with extra-base hits and turning double plays. Tanner competed on the mound and we were ready to hit the pitch we were looking for. I was happy with our offense.”

Buckeyes take game 3, series, 3-0 over Hawkeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Behind strong pitching and defense, the Ohio State baseball team claimed a series win over Iowa with a 3-0 shutout victory Sunday afternoon at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. The Buckeyes (31-16-1, 10-8 B1G) plated three runs in the first inning and protected their lead turning a season-high four double play to earn their second shutout of the weekend over the Hawkeyes (22-23, 8-10 B1G).

“I thought we did a great job as a staff leaving 11 runners on base and turning a bunch of double plays today,” head coach Greg Beals said. “Craig Nennig made a big time play for the first out in the eighth and the double play in the first inning was obviously huge to get out of that situation. It was a very competitive performance by our pitchers.”
