Iowa fan coming to the Shoe! How will we be treated?

Newbie
Huge college football fan and love going to different stadiums. I am also an Iowa fan and will be marking off the horseshoe from my bucket list.

I know you guys hate UM, PSU, among others but how do you treat visiting fans? I've heard it can get pretty vile but I would think you'd pay no mind to us respectful, mild mannered Hawkeye fans. I expect a good natured ribbing, it goes with entering hostile territory, but I just want to make sure a middle aged couple from Iowa won't be hassled too much.

Here's to a competitive Iowa team that might give you a game!

How will you be treated? Much better than your team will be!

Visiting fans usually get treated in a similar way they have been known to treat our fans when at their place. (minus the piss-filled plastic bags and thrown batteries, of course)
You should have no problems that you don't bring with you, and it sounds like you should have a good time (other than what takes place on the field ).

Hope you enjoy your experience.

Much what I expected. What you give, you get in return. I love the atmosphere of CFB and find it much more civil than pro games.

I'll be in 18A about half way up, looks like those are pretty decent seats. So stoked for this game! I just hope we can run the ball and keep the Buckeye offense off the field, it might give us a chance!

Cool user name. Welcome to BP.

I'm sure there are some visitors that have been treated poorly. Just like nearly every other stadium in the country...maybe even the world. I've heard people describe games at the Shoe negatively as well as extremely positive. I've been to several games and have yet to see a visitor being treated over the line bad. Even went to a tOSU v tsun bball game with a tsun fan and there was nothing out of line.

Because of this, you should have no issues. You'll get some calls from the idiots, but don't worry about being in any sort of danger. Just stick around the parking areas and stadium. Don't go east of high street. That's where the fraternities and most off campus housing is located. I lived in that area for a few years and we're drunken morons getting ready for the game. And enjoy the atmosphere, but hopefully not the results.

Of course none of us considered Attica out of line either so tifwiw.

I said I didn't see anything bad at a football game. See what I did there? See?

There wasn't anything over the line at the tsun bball game because my friend was a tsun fan. Who's to say what's over the line in that situation? I'm no judge.

Yep.

It's almost 2014. "Go get the gimp" is mainstream.
