Game Thread Iowa at tOSU, Homecoming, Oct 19, 3:30 ET, ABC/ESPN/ESPN2

True. But the switched up their Offense with multiple TE sets that was not there before. The D had to adjust to something they did expect. They played poorly the 1st half, but adjusted well to win.
Here's another relevant stat. Buckeye offense held the ball 23 minutes in the second half. It's a lot easier to put up better defensive numbers when the other team is only getting the ball 3.5 minutes a quarter. I don't want to be overly negative, but this was a very weak offense that owned the Bucks for half of this game. When Capo uses the term "clownshow" during a game, it is not a good sign.

I can forgive the 1st half. Iowa threw a new look and their OL was playing out of their minds. But, there is an obvious deficiency in the back 7 when it comes to pass defense. That play to the TE in the 3rd quarter was horrifying. Overall, with a healthy lift from the offense, the D played very well overall in the 2nd half. We do make effective halftime adjustments, and many times that's all you need. Just have to hope the pass D improves overall, but at this point in the season, the likelihood of that is diminishing.

Any chance that can happen before meatnbooger and BOButtskin get to town?

D played well... but the Iowa offense didn't really have the ball that much in the 2nd half. We also got to the QB more, but thats all on the DL and LB. It has nothing to do with the secondary.

No doubt. But, getting consistent pressure on the QB can help mask a glaring weakness. They're gonna get tested several more times this season. Just have to hope we can get the pressure to ease the weight on the DBs and LBs in coverage, because they just aren't very good.

The stats on offense speak volumes about the defense...
  • Starting QB has his best game of the season
  • Starting RB rushes for over 100 yards
  • Zero punts
  • Zero turnovers
If I told you before the game that all of those things were going to happen, how much would you have thought the Buckeyes would have won by? I'm guessing everybody here would have thought they would have won by more than ten points.

This wasn't an isolated moment either, they were making lanes that Al Borges could run through 27 times for at least 30 yds.
