Iowa 67, #16 Ohio State 62 (Final)

That was pathetic...a Top 25 team DOES NOT play like that down the stretch. They looked confused during the last 5 minutes of that game on offense. Nobody looked like they knew what they were trying to do. What the heck did Thad use the timeouts for? We gave that game away.

Damn guys, a little harsh here. First off we were getting homered in the second half. I think they were in the bonous after about 6 minutes or so.

Also we had open looks down the stretch and we just couldnt hit them. What the hell can you do, sometimes they just don't fall. Neither team shot well in the second half. Iowa is a very good team, and especially at home where they are now 13-0 for the season I believe.

The only thing I saw wrong with todays game was that noone could stop Breuner, but what are you going to do when he is a mismatch for you.

The second chance points and not hitting our shots is what killed us.

There is no reason to be that upset right now, as long as we come back and play like we are capable of. We have lost 3 tough games, one by 3, one by 2, and one by 5. All were against top 25 caliber oppnents and two were on the road and the one at home was a double OT game.

There is no reason to have our heads down, We have a hell of a bball team and lets get ready for the Rattlers on monday nite.

This was a very frustrating one to watch, particularly b/c we had many chances to take the lead and win the game in the last five minutes if we could have just made a few buckets. I was incredibly surprised that when we needed to foul with about 23 seconds left, we let Haluska (87% free throw shooter) catch the in-bounds pass so easily. Why not deny him the ball and make one of Iowa's crummier free throw shooters make those shots? Automatically putting yourself down 3 like that really hurts in terms of a last play--you become too predictable as you need a three just to tie.
Not to sound overly negative, but that's two games now (also against Indiana) where we've needed a basket to tie with under five seconds left and we've failed to even get a shot off.

If we don't start winning these tough close games, we may not even make it to the tournament.

Lets not go to far, we have played two tough ball games on the road against quality teams and came up just short. Lets all remember that we are still 14-3 and soon to be 15-3 after Monday night. Its not time to hit the panic button.

You are not going to win many games shooting 27.6% in the 2nd half. Too many long shots. I just wish this team would drive to the basket more.

This team will live and die by the three ball. Some nights it goes down, some nights the shots will not fall. Lewis is really the only player we have who can get the rim off the dribble on a consistent basis. I wish Butler would look to penetrate more down the stretch.

The second chance points and not hitting our shots is what killed us.

Exactly. Its been our weakness all year, our rebounding. Brunner killed us all night.

That was pathetic...a Top 25 team DOES NOT play like that down the stretch.

Just relax, a few buckets that go down in that span and its a different game.

The frustrating part about this game and scUM lite was NOT losing the game, but how we lost. I am not getting down on this team. Hell I never expected them to be 14-3 at this point in the season. But the fact that they should have won both those games. When you lose a game simply because you played worse than the opponent did, that is frustrating. Iowa didnt play good enough to win that game last night. scUM st. didnt play good enough to win that game either........awful shooting down the stretch, along with some sloppy mistakes, etc.

Dials looked horrid in the second half. Taking shots where he is nowhere near open. Foster hasnt been able to hit the broad side of a barn the past few games. Butler needs to shoot the ball more. Sylvester can be such a blessing and such a burden within a 5 minute span.

Lewis is the man. Sullinger can be quiet, but makes some big plays when he needs to. Without him and Lewis in there last night, we probably get blown out.

Again though, I am not gonna sit and complain all day. I really think they've been overachieving most of the year so far, and they're gonna have some tough losses where they just dont play well. I think Matta is a hell of a coach, and is doing a great job with what he has.

Didn't get to watch the game so thanks for the updates. I have been very disappointed by our interior defense most of the season. There seems to be way too many missed assignments and its not being fixed. We definitely need that guy who is willing to take the ball to the hoop more, especially crunch time. Ron Lewis for the most part this season has been the only guy to do that consistently. When Butler finally decides to start taking games over we could have something special going on. Drive the ball and dish to TD!!! I wish coach would get on them a little more when the perimeter shot isnt falling. He does well keeping their confidence level up by standing by them shooting, but I wish once in a while he would tell them to penetrate before settling. Still we have plenty of games to go and I'm confident that we'll make the tournament.
