Most of the TO's were trying for showtime plays for the Home crowd. Saturday it is back to work,if Illinois shoots well it will take at least an A- game to win!

I don't know about that. On two possessions in a row, there were a couple of terrible passes attempting to get fast break points, but there were several (3? 4?) charges, several travels, and at least two bad, bad, bad inbounds passes that were never even touched before going out of bounds. Plus Iowa had quite a few steals. Ugly game, but when OSU can turn the ball over 20+ times, have Diebler go 1-8, and still win by 22? I'll take it!

I've never thought that we would cover the spread but not hit the over:( I should have put more vcash on Lighty. I knew he was ready for a breakout game on offense. Hope he saved some for Saturday. Nice to see him hit his free throws.

It was nice to see Smith and Sibert finally get some minutes. I was curious to why they did not get more because this wasn't a game where the second half began.

Matta implied after the game that despite the comfortable lead his team had for most of the game, all of his substitutions were not pre-determined decisions. Some might have been intended to send a message.

"What we had seen was we were taking a couple of plays off here and there throughout, and I think getting those guys out and letting them take a look is good for them," he said.

I agree to a certain extent that some of our turnovers were due to the fact that some of the guys wanted to put some mustard on Iowa. Iowa vs. Indiana. That should be a real hummer of a game.

The team has had struggles on fast break chances for the last couple of years. I remember those two possessions - they should have resulted in at least a layup and a wide open 3-point shot.

I'm hoping they practice fast break situations more - they'll need to convert easy scoring chances like that to win some close games later in the year. Having the guys without the ball get in proper position and having the ball-handler make a good decision (and avoid a charge) is something they should be able to improve upon.

On the plus side, the team defense was very solid for most of the night - which was probably the result of what they've spending a large part of practice working on lately.

I think I'm thinking of something different. There was that series, with Iowa screwing the pooch on their own fast break chance in between OSU's tomfoolery. 3 consecutive terribly executed fsatbreaks by the two teams.

The possessions I'm thinking of were in the 2nd half. The first one, OSU didn't have numbers but the passer tried to feed the ball to Thomas coming down the middle of the lane, but he was surrounded by 3 Hawkeyes and the ball was pretty easily stolen away. The next possession, OSU (Buford?) got a defensive board and tried to heave it downcourt for an easy bucket and Iowa intercepted that one around the far 3 point line.

Ah, hell. There were so many turnovers between the two teams last night, who can keep them all straight?
