Internet connection question

Bmax,

I'm going to respond to your pm on here b/c whenever I respond to pm's here at work my computer locks up. I'll try Walmart for a modem tonight and see what I find.

I can't thank you enough for all of your help.

If DSL is not an option cable should be. Unless you are really out in the sticks.

My laptop came with an app called Net Waiting that allows you to do just what you want. I never use dial up so I do not use it or know how it works.

You may want to google it. Good luck.

Actualy not true. Lot of areas have DSL and no cable. There are tons of little fly by night cable companies that wont sell out to the big boys. And some areas the big boys dont want to buy, because they'd have to rip out the entire cable system and rebuild it, which would cost a fortune. My roomate works for Comcast.

That Net waiting app is kinda like I had him download last night. The modem he has in that machine is a pain. I deal with them on a daily basis.

Thump imagine twice as many trees, all laying down or snapped in half, and that is what my yard looked like. I took some photos but never got around to moving them to the PC.

Did you get call waiting working?

You bought one first and it didnt work? What brand was it?

See the question is, are your phone lines good enough to get you a v.92 connection. If that doesnt happen, none of the modems are gonna work :(

He lives in a 100 year old farm house. So there is a chance of that. You should have seen the place when his father in law was working on wiring. Just random wires in the walls that connect to nothing. I thought his father in law was going to flip out.

Damnt. You mentioned what speed you were connecting at, and that speed is borderline. If you said like 26,400, 28,800, I would have said not even bother, just hoped it would work in your case.

Are you able to return that modem? If not, I will definitely feel bad.
