In a professional setting, I've seen the good and ugly. All I have to say is keep your boy in mind, and get things in writing if any agreements are made. These situations can turn ugly quick, and you want agreements in ink, not verbal...

Absolutely. That's part of why talking to an attorney ASAP is so important.

That's their job. A good attorney helps the process go more smoothly for everyone involved.

Muck and gbear are giving you the gospel man. As I have stated twice, most the time these things start well enough..... just wait until the real emotions start kicking in and hard decisions start being made... Just prepare yourself for it. Get a lawyer ASAP and get everything in writing now. The quicker you can make this over the better.
