If he gets his shit together why would you want to trade him? Just curious.NFBuck;1155891; said:Another thing, I hope C.C. can get his fat ass back on track or we may not be able to get shit for him come trade deadline (provided Shapiro's ass has the common sense to move him when we're inevitably out of contention). Teams won't give up shit for a struggling, out of shape lefty with a lot of miles already on his arm, especially with Zito doing his best Steve Blaine impression by the Bay. At this point, I don't even want to pay up for him. We already have one overbloated contract to a former star who is suddenly past his prime.
He's a free agent after this season, and there's no way we'd be able to afford him. If we're out of contention (looking more and more likely by the game), we may as well get some prospects for him as opposed to getting jack shit when Oakland or Anaheim or whoever pays $20M a year for him. Leftys make big bucks and are always in demand, but if he continues to pitch like shit, that demand will shrink. In short get something before losing him for nuthin'.Best Buckeye;1155892; said:If he gets his shit together why would you want to trade him? Just curious.
The amazing thing is that even with our pathetic offense and relief pitching and C. C. that being the dominator anymore we are still only one game out of first place. If we do get rid of C. C. during the season, I don't want him traded for any prospects we have too many of them. I want him traded for some veteran players or maybe just one player who knows how to hit. Maybe we can bundle C. C. and Hafner together and trade them as a package deal and then we could really go shopping before next season.NFBuck;1155896; said:He's a free agent after this season, and there's no way we'd be able to afford him. Can't speak for all of the Indians fans but I just could not do that. I have this illness when I start to talk about teams in Ohio located south of ColumbusJaxbuck;1156038; said:Can we not voluntarily contract both Ohio teams into one and see if we couldn't put a decent product on the field? As a Reds fan I'd be happy to give it a try, we sure as shit aren't going anywhere by ourselves and we have some decent players.
