Is this the year when the Indians and Reds will renew acquaintances in October?

So here we are, a few hours away from "next year," ready to buy into whatever flimsy logic the general manager and manager of our favorite major-league baseball team is offering. It's the one moment when we're all certain that our much-beloved team, which might not have won a World Series during our time on earth, is about to have the season of a lifetime. "Wait until next year" means just that. It doesn't mean "Wait until 2010," or "Wait until the Yankees and Red Sox stop spending so much money," or "Wait until Homer Bailey grows up." It means what it says.

Well, good to see some things never change. Borowski makes it interesing, gives up a HR to Dy and walks fat-ass Pierzynski yet manages to hold on. That man is a human blood pressure spike.

1-0. Always fun to beat the White Sox.

Gutz looked good, 3-3, a 2-run HR, a walk and 3 RBI. I'd love to see him have a break out season and give us another solid bat at one of the corner outfield positions.

Absolutely... I'd love to see him take over the 2-spot in the lineup for us, I just don't see Michaels getting it done there. Lets just hope this injury to Martinez doesn't end up being nagging him for an extended period.

It was pretty comical to hear these White Sox announcers crying after the questionable calls.

Kinda nervous about Victor....the way he pulled up, it looked like he may be out for several weeks - month.
Ditto. That's a big hole to fill and those kind of injuries can be nagging for a catcher. At least Shoppach is a serviceable back up. If he is out, hopefully Gutz can step up and provide some punch. I'm looking for big things from him this season...

Casey Blake is my man... for today we shall see about tomorrow:biggrin:.

I sure hope CC doesn't end up like last season with the bullpen letting the game get tied after he leaves. That could be the end of the end for him if that happens.

CC can't put the blame on anyone but himself for today's game.

2 on, 1 out b/c he can't find the strike zone is tough for any relief pitcher.

I'm sure CC, as many pitchers do will find the strike zone and get their good stuff in the next 2-3 weeks.

I was on my way home from work when the interference call was made, so I only heard it on the radio. I still haven't seen the replay, but it sounded like one that got the White Sox pretty fired up. The announcers said they thought Thome would have beaten the throw at first had there been one.

Crucial call at that stage of the game, and I'm glad it went in the Tribe's favor. For those of you that saw it, was it the right call?

Absolutely, 100% the correct call.

Cabrera didn't slide into Peralta, he literally reached out in an effort to one arm tackle him. It was clearly interfernce.

The baserunner has a right to slide into the player, but does not have the right to football tackle anyone.

It wasn't even close.

Thanks for the clarification, billmac. The radio call from Hammy was pretty entertaining as you could have probably imagined.

Hopefully Victor's okay, I hate to see this happen to him early in the season 2 years in a row.

That call was correct, and listening to the Sox announcers go apeshit afterwards was hilarious. Unfortunately here in Chicago I have to put with their crap, but its worth it to catch the Tribe the few times I can.

The call on Crede at the plate looks like it was missed by the ump, he looked safe, but we would have won either way.

Good to see the bats have some life in them... its gonna be a fun season!
