Indians Tidbits (2007 Season)

I believe the winner of tomorrow's game wins the series. Got to like the Indians odds...I don't know how good Wakefield can pitch coming back from injury, but Byrd is one of the most underrated pitchers in the AL. The Tribe are hot, while the Sox are not.

Games like tonight are why I was psyched when we re-upped Jake. That was beautiful, particularly the second inning. I like our chances tomorrow. Wakefield hasn't pitched in over two weeks and the sawks just looked defeated tonight. And how about JoeBo (nor more "blowowski" from this guy)?!?!?! 1-2-3, are you fucking kidding me?:banger:

My guess is... they haven't decided yet...
They'll let Wakefield throw tomorrow early afternoon and decide then...

You save Beckett too long
and you're saving him for April
cuz you're home licking your wounds in October

Indians hold down Sox Solid pitching, fielding give Tribe 2-1 series lead
Published on Tuesday, Oct 16, 2007

CLEVELAND: David Ortiz stopped running halfway to first base.
His line shot in the eighth inning was about to rest in the glove of Indians right fielder Franklin Gutierrez, and Ortiz knew it.
Ortiz stopped and just stood still, staring into space.
He had hit the ball hard but gotten nothing from it. Ortiz turned to the dugout, then turned to look at right field, disbelief and shock in his gaze.
That blank stare symbolized the night for Ortiz and his Boston Red Sox counterpart, Manny Ramirez.

INDIANS DOUBLE UP Lofton blasts two-run homer; Westbrook gets grounders galore
By Sheldon Ocker Beacon Journal sportswriter
Published on Tuesday, Oct 16, 2007
CLEVELAND: All it took for Kenny Lofton to become a folk hero in Cleveland was a July trade that delivered him from the Texas Rangers to the Indians.
This is Lofton's third tour of duty with the Tribe, and it has a chance to be his most satisfying. From Day 1 of his return, he has stressed one thing: He wants a ring, and this might be the best place to go shopping for it.
Lofton slammed a two-run homer in the second inning to give the Tribe an early lead, and Jake Westbrook rebounded from his poor start in the American League Division Series, as the Indians earned a 4-2 win over the Boston Red Sox on Monday night at Jacobs Field.

Wedge gives Nixon start in Game 3 Indians manager wants another left-hand batter. Game 2 hit also helps
By Sheldon Ocker Beacon Journal sportswriter
Published on Tuesday, Oct 16, 2007

CLEVELAND: Manager Eric Wedge wrote Trot Nixon's name in the Indians' lineup Monday night for the second time this postseason.
When asked why, Wedge listed two obvious reasons: ''The last couple of times Trot's been in there, he's swung the bat pretty well. And it will be good to get another left-hander in there against this guy (Daisuke Matsuzaka).''

Westbrook leads Tribe to 2-1 ALCS edge

Patience is a virtue, but sometimes it can be a real pain.
C.C. Sabathia and Fausto Carmona ran into that problem in games 1 and 2 of the American League Championship Series at Fenway Park. Boston's patient hitters made them throw too many pitches, and neither one made it through the fifth inning.
Jake Westbrook, paying close attention, did the only thing a pitcher can do in that situation Monday night in Game 3 at Jacobs Field. He attacked, and the Indians beat the Red Sox, 4-2, at Jacobs Field to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.
