Indiana Hoosiers (no more shinebox)

Haven’t listened to his stick in years. He was good awhile ago, but then he got full of himself and just tiresome to listen too
I think when he got to Fox and they gave him the bag and he knew that his job was safe, he stopped caring. He’s their OG at this point with Skip getting canned
I can't remember when he was actually good. I am not denying that he was, I just wasn't paying attention to him then. To me he's always been a West Coast Finebaum.
I can see that. I think he’s always been more of a bandwagon rider. But he used to have some interesting takes that were outside the box but were pretty spot on. Now it just seems he’s the grumpy stubborn old guy, mixed with the message board guy who just says things for engagement. And he mixes that with an air of superiority, yet he’s always the least knowledgeable in every category on any sport

IU fueling a NIL war in the BIG. Will be interesting to see the response
I don’t think they’ll ever have an NIL war, because they’re rarely pursuing guys that other teams want to offer top dollar for. Mendoza and Hoover didn’t have massive markets, neither did the other guys they got so far, besides Marsh. That was a HUGE get, but the WRs they got in the Portal were not wanted by many, nor were most of their transfers. They’re getting older guys who they don’t have to worry about off the field, and are more mature. But they don’t have the raw talent of what OSU has, but they do have older guys who won’t make dumb mistakes.

It’s a dangerous game to play if you want to rely on transfers as your main way to obtain talent. There’s a fine line between being IU and being Auburn and Colorado. But it seems like IU is bringing in guys not looking for massive NIL deals like the other 2 schools

Indeed FSU played it right for 1 year and terribly for 2 in a row

I’m very happy with the fact that Skip got canned.

I think I’m even happier realizing that I had no idea he had been canned until now.

But there isn’t a fine line between Cig and Prime. That line is as wide as the Grand Canyon.

Not as far as talent acquisition it isn't. Both rely primarily on the Portal. I can say there's a fine line between Cig and Norvell too
What I gather is Cig is a full steam ahead kind of guy. He knows which players he wants and he showed that by locking up 7+ guys on the first day or two.

What’s underrated about IU is Cigs culture. These players are going to buy in. I heard about their brutal winter workouts etc. most off season programs are hard but from what I’ve heard IU has a very tough one.

I have to say, Coach Cig seems to have a better grasp on who he is and what he wants to do compared to even Ryan Day who’s one of the best out there.

You haven’t seen Cig make wild over over corrections based on previous issues. He just continues within his process and on he goes.

We’ll see how he does without his coordinators one day, without his JMU players, and with continuous turnover but so far he’s been aces every single time.

Funny thing is, I think if IU brought in the TE that OSU did, people would be losing their minds and wondering why OSU didn't pursue the TE from OU. Its all perception at this point. Cig prefers the Portal to HS recruiting, but he's not pursuing top, high star guys(outside of Marsh). The TCU QB is not a player that OSU would be interested in, none of the IU WRs would OSU be interested in, Zen Michalski was cast off from OSU and was a running joke of recruiting OL failures, and now he could win an NC as their starting OL. Roman Hemby is their starting RB, but no one would even want him over CJ Donaldson or James Peoples let alone Bo.
Cig is also playing with house money with the IU job. He literally has nothing to lose. If he loses out on a recruit it doesn't matter, he's only at IU, if a transfer doesn't pan out, oh well fans will look forward to basketball season. If Ryan Day doesn't get every single 5star, and win every game by 40pts, the fan base turns on him. Cig has next to no pressure from his fan base or their donors. He can get blown out by Oregon and it won't matter that much, they're just happy to be there. OSU fans are up in arms over losing twice this season, imagine if Day said he was going to stop really recruiting HS talent in place of transfers. Every OSU site would explode

Colin has gotten worse and worse over the last few years. I used to like him for some of the brash takes that he would occasionally get right. Now he’s wrong on pretty much every show, and it’s almost like he’s attempting to be wrong for clicks. And it seems like he doesn’t even watch sports anymore, some random intern or camera guy gives him a box score and he just wings it
Dude, that's every single one of them. Just watch the games. You don't need some asshole with a camera and a microphone in front of him to inform yourself.

Well said and I agree the pressure at OSU is for sure different. As always I’d imagine there’s a balance to be had with portal or HS.

I will say I would’ve no doubt wanted Hemby over our two back ups lol.

I'm not watching every single game on TV. And also I look for breakdown and analysis, that just watching doesn't provide. And also, there was a time when watching the highlights and getting a brief synopsis of the game was given without the opinion, I miss those days. But at times I want someone smarter than me to break down film. Now everyone leans too much into their own opinion to drive clocks and ratings. I think PTI and Around the Horn are mainly to blame
