Indiana +11.5 at tOSU (ov/un 142.5) Sun 4:30 ET, CBS

You know when Gene Smith started going "O-H" to try to drown out the boos while introducing Coach Meyer, all I could think about was:

1) Kevin Bacon in "Animal House" (i.e. Remain Calm) or

2) The school master at the end of the movie "Scent of a Woman" banging his gavel after Al Pacino's speech to try to quiet the crowd.

I'm thinking Gene will only garner boos throughout the rest of his tenure. He lost the battle with the OSU faithful (permanently).

Postgame

Crean does a little bit of whining after the game... poor guy:tongue2:
By Bob Baptist
Indiana coach Tom Crean said after the Buckeyes' win today that his team did not respond to how physically Ohio State played from the start.

I asked him if the Hoosiers matched the Buckeyes' physically in their previous game New Year's Eve, or whether the tight officiating in that game removed physical play as a factor.

He noted that both teams were in foul trouble that game and that only Indiana had a player disqualified. Ohio State was called for 22 fouls and Indiana for 20.

"That game came down to us making a couple of stops at the end. It was a very good basketball game," Crean said of the Hoosiers' 74-70 win.

"But at home against them, we did play much more physically, we were much better on (not getting knocked off) the cuts. And frankly, we got to the foul line because of those cuts.

"It wasn?t like we changed a lot of offensive things. Today, we didn?t get the calls. There, we did. It?s just the way that it is."

Crean also said that "at home, when we were down, even though we weren?t making shots, our execution was still pretty good. Here, our execution wasn?t nearly as good."

He's a dick. The end totals might be close but the first half foul issues is what allowed Indiana to even be in that game. When the Buckeyes made an early run, the refs took Sully, Thomas and Buford out of that game. Eat a bag'o'dicks Crean! See you at the tourney if you don't choke it up. :chompy:

Crean is also a dick for well...just being Crean.

Did you know the Harbaugh brothers are his brothers-in-law?
How would we have any idea that Crean is married to the Harbaughs' sister?

That is, how would we know if we never watched ESPN, CBS or the Big Ten Network, where this factoid is broadcast as frequently as State Farm Insurance ads.

Crean aside, this Indiana team will go farther in the Dance, I think, than we ever would have thought possible before the season. Cody Zeller is so much better than his brothers.

More butthurt from Crean:

http://blogs.heraldtimesonline.com/iusp/?p=17529#more-17529

"I think when you get to the game and you get out there at early at Indiana, you don't see our (assistants) hob-nobbing with national media members and sitting on the sideline and relaxing," Crean said. "We don't have a team of guys that are out wearing their Beats headphones as they're warming up. Our guys are out there working with them. I don't have a group of guys that are grandstanders, that are looking to get an article done about them. I've got a group of guys that are really, really hungry to make the team better. That's game night."

He went on to say that the assistants help a lot with the scout, and obviously with recruiting. He then went back on attack mode and said he only had one problem with his staff.

"Our coaches, they're very tolerant, and sometimes I don't like that," Crean said. "They're tolerant of some of the things we see in recruiting. They're tolerant of some of the negativity. They're tolerant of some of the grandstand assistant coaches that run their mouth constantly against us in recruiting and want to talk about development, yet they're the guys that are cheerleading and hob-nobbing and all of those kinda things. It's about making your players better, and I don't think there's any question whatsoever that our coaches are making our players better... I'm not good with silver spoon coaches. I'm not good with male models. I'm not good with guys who need to have a lot said and written about 'em. I'm good with guys that roll up their sleeves and get to work. I think that's what we've got...
So your assistants work harder than Ohio State's but you still got boat raced? Sucks to be you I guess.
