echinacea and goldenseal caplets, taken for a week, once a month. zinc drops at the first sign of a cold. hot water, lemon, honey and a shot of whiskey during the cold to soothe the throat and aid in sleep. theraflu works well during, to help relieve the symptoms.

Because of a medical condition I can't use antihistamines, so I use the
Zicam products. They are Zinc based and work pretty well for me.
Few side effects also!
Drink Emergence-C for the vitamin C.

(when you have a cold, don't drink/eat milk products. They aggravate the mucus problems)

Vicks 44D before bed only if necessary, otherwise just a Vicks inhaler and some zinc lozenges. Every cold I had used to turn into bronchitis... cut back on the meds and haven't had an issue since.
