In-State Players to Watch

Recruiting: MSU still chasing Ohio OL as signing day looms

Michigan State is looking to add at least one more offensive lineman to the class of 2016, and Lewis Center (Ohio) Olentangy's Luke Campbell may have the inside track. The 6-foot-5, 275-pound prospect will make an official visit to MSU this weekend, and he could become a Spartan shortly afterward.

Campbell is already familiar with MSU, as he has visited the campus several times and attended a camp there last summer. I evaluated Campbell at Michigan State’s camp:

“He has offers from Illinois, Purdue, Cincinnati, Air Force and a host of MAC programs. Campbell is one of those players that was 6-foot-5, 245 pounds last fall and now he is 265 pounds. He tested very well for an offensive lineman and was solid in drills. He reminds me of Michigan native Ryan McDonald, who went on the start 48 games for the Fighting Illini.”

Never saw this kid mentioned anywhere:

Michigan also picked up OH LS Camaron Cheeseman. Cheeseman went to the Semper Fi game and 247 has him ranked the #2 long snapper in the country. I cannot believe this exists, but he has an ESPN scouting report(!):

Great placement and location on both long and short snaps. He stays in balance well and snaps with clean rotation and good velocity.… Great frame and huge upside. He is an athlete that has all the tools to be a special long snapper.

That is a very nice PWO pickup. Everyone needs a long snapper; Michigan is currently using a scholarship slot on one.

Same HS as Jonathon Cooper. Obviously OSU didn't need a LS in this class after taking McCullough last year.
