In-state Players to Watch

'15 OH DL Elijah Taylor

11W - Targeting the Queen City in 2015

6/20

DT ELIJAH TAYLOR (MOELLER)

Elijah Taylor is teammates with current Ohio State commit Sam Hubbard. It is still too early to say whether or not Taylor will earn an offer from Ohio State with Ohio State putting more of a focus on recruiting nationally, but Taylor is definitely a prospect to keep an eye on.

He has very good size for a junior-to-be at 6'3 275 pounds. He moves pretty well for his size and it up about 30-35 pounds from last year. He could potentially be a guy that could play SSDE or inside.

Elijah Taylor currently has offers from West Virginia, Michigan State, Illinois, Louisville, Ohio, and Western Kentucky. He recently camped at Michigan and reportedly did pretty well.

247Sports rates Elijah as the 137th overall player in the nation and 6th in Ohio. 14th overall DT. The first thing that stands out on his film is his ability to move for his size. He consistently got a good push against Ohio's top competition. As a sophomore he had 3.5 sacks, 35 tackles, and 2 forced fumbles.

Michigan State appears to be the current front runner after signing Taylor's teammate, 2013 LB Shane Jones. Things could change if an Ohio State or another bigger school decides to extend a scholarship offer.

Two of the Top OL Guys in the Ohio Class of 2015
Yesterday, I may have seen two of the very best offensive linemen in the Ohio Class of 2015 at the Sims/Cofield Camp at John Carroll University and at Chris Chambers Camp. Nordonia's offensive tackle, Cameron Bell, and Warren Harding's, James Daniels. Both prospects look the part, work hard and possess good skills for so early.

'15 OH RB Levon McCants

Scout - 2015: McCants a Rare Talent

7/12

College coaches looking for an explosive skill talent will have to find their way to Hughes Center in Cincinnati, not a big school, but one with a potentially big talent in rising junior Levon McCants, a 5'10, 175-pound running back who had some big outings last season including a school single game record 312-yards in one.
Hughes head coach Matt Thompson says the college attention has started to trickle in, but it really has only been the tip of the iceberg.

"He's had several invites to camps, but we haven't been able to get him there. He's been having some family trouble and monetary issues, but he's been invited by Toledo, Bowling Green, pretty much MAC schools, Miami (Ohio)."

Once schools do get to see him, Thompson is confident they will find out what opponents have already learned about his star.

"Well, he's an explosive player. Offensively, he's a great running back. He makes the offensive line correct even when they don't make the correct blocks because he can cut and see the play happen before it happens so to speak. He has breakaway speed in the open field and one guy is not going to bring him down. He's a determined, strong kid."

While he is not likely to play the position in college, McCants is also a standout linebacker.

"He's just a rare talent in the fact that he seeks out the ball on defense. He has a knack for stripping ball carriers. As freshman, he had five forced fumbles that were all taken back for touchdowns. This past season, he had four of them just like that. He has an uncanny ability for stripping the ball."

'15 OH RB Andrew Dowell

http://www.elevenwarriors.com/2013/07/24042/friday-night-lights-notebook
ANDREW DOWELL - 2015 RB ST. EDWARD (OHIO)

Andrew Dowell was impressive working out at running back. He has the frame to add 15-20 pounds to his current 205 pound playing weight. He showed good speed in beating the defensive players to the outside in a toss drill. His route running was solid for a running back, but he did drop a ball that probably should have been caught. His brother, David Dowell, worked out with the corners at camp. According to their father, David previously worked out at receiver, but Coach Coombs wanted him to workout with the defensive backs. The 6'1 David Dowell has the size, long arms, and ball skills that Coach Coombs is looking for at corner. David was recently offered by Tennessee. After camp we were able to catch up with Andrew:

Q: What did the coaches tell you?

A: I spoke with Coach Drayton and he told me he was going to 'recruit the mess out of me' and told me he really means it.

Q: Was this camp different than the other camps you've been to?

A: It was a great way to end the camp season. It was a great competing atmosphere. The music helped with that. It was great.

Q: What are your thought on Ohio State?

A: I love Ohio State. It's an offer any player from Ohio would covet. Hopefully I showed enough to get that offer.

Q: Do you feel you showed them enough to get an offer?

A: I think I furthered my recruitment today at camp. I made some nice plays.

Q: Who is showing interest and who else is sticking out?

A: Everywhere I camped at is showing interest. Everyone is pretty even right now.

'15 OH DB Tyree Kinnel

http://www.elevenwarriors.com/2013/07/24042/friday-night-lights-notebook
Kinnel is listed as a safety, but Ohio State is recruiting him as a CB. The 6'0 Kinnel is exactly what Coombs is looking for in a corner since Coombs has told Tyree that he loves big corners. Kinnel was impressive in 1-on-1 drills and showed that he can cover some of the best receivers. He was jamming receivers at the line and recovering with ease. The highly regarded Ohio prospect has offers from Kentucky and Arkansas, while Michigan State is close to offering. A school that makes him feel at home is what he wants and is one of the reasons he is very interested in Ohio State.

'15 OH TE C.J. Conrad

http://www.elevenwarriors.com/2013/07/24042/friday-night-lights-notebook
C.J. Conrad, a 6'5, 225-pound tightend, was the top performer at his position. Conrad showed he could catch the ball, but I didn't get to see him block. Tim Hinton spoke with C.J. following the camp and told him he did a really nice job and he is very interested in him. The staff wants to see early film and go from there in terms of a potential offer. Stan Drayton recruits the area and he also plans to recruit the big tightend prospect.
