One of Ohio's more exciting juniors is Kent Roosevelt quarterback TraVon Chapman, and he was ultra-impressive last Friday. Chapman threw for 368 yards and two touchdowns, in leading his team to a 30-21 win over Warren Howland in first-round playoff action. Here are a few clips of Chapman in action.

TraVon's father is Thad Jemison:

Jemison played wide receiver for the Buckeyes from 1980-83, compiling 51 catches for 902 yards and four touchdowns, before being selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 1984 NFL Draft. A native of Cincinnati, Jemison is a 2009 graduate of Ohio State.

Because my son is on the golf team at Cuyahoga Falls, I had to work the concession stand the evening Kent Roosevelt destroyed Falls. Against poor competition, Chapman stood out as a very good dual threat high school QB.
I would guess he may get 4 stars next year. He came to Kent from one of the name central Ohio schools, maybe Pickerington, or Westerville?

It was Pickerington Central.

IIRC, Jim Tressel recommended to Jemison that he enroll his son at Roosevelt. Kinda hard to argue against the results so far.

The game was played September 9, and I was only a few letters away from having the name right:biggrin:

No big deal, but talked to Ryan Anderson's dad at the game. I told him to check out his son's thread on BP

UC offers Northwest junior linebacker Rasheen Jones

Northwest junior linebacker Rasheen Jones was offered by UC today, according to Northwest coach Chad Murphy.

Jones, who is 6 feet 3 and 225 pounds, has had interest from several college programs recently and the Bearcats are the first to offer him. Jones is considered one of the area?s top players in the 2013 class.

Murphy said Jones is very rangy with long arms and could put on another 20 pounds and still look thin. Murphy said Ohio State, Michigan and Bowling Green have been among others showing interest. He said college programs have been impressed with the linebacker?s closing speed and getting to the ball.

Written by mdyer

Ohio State was at Hamilton last Thursday with interest in junior OL Ben Flick and junior LB Marcus Oliver, according to the Hamilton football program.

Flick was offered by Buffalo last year and is expected to be one of the area?s top offensive linemen in the 2013 class.

Oliver, who was listed at 6 feet 2 and 220 pounds at the end of the season, was first-team all-GMC and had 131 tackles, including 88 solo tackles. He had four sakcs, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and an interception (returned it for a touchdown).
