I voted for the first 3 on the list. I'm in the group that thinks he's overacted in many of his roles.

I was impressed with his performance as Shylock, though. I read the play right after seeing the movie.

yeah, his overreacting can be quite funny...or annoying. I don't think there has been one movie in which he didn't yell.

Although I think in Devil's Advocate, his overacting was intentional and a carcicature of his other characters.

"Sonny" was the MAN (?)

I'm not much of a movie person, but "Dog Day Afternoon" was simply one of the greatest I ever saw. One of the most unique if not THE most unique characters to ever hit the screen.

Al Pacino has joined director Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean’s 13 gang, Variety reports.

Details of the plot are being kept under wraps but Warner Bros. reveals that Pacino will be playing Willie Banks, the owner of a high-profile casino and hotel in Las Vegas.

Pacino joins the cast – headed by George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Andy Garcia, Don Cheadle and Bernie Mac – and their franchise’s new leading lady, Ellen Barkin.

Jerry Weintraub is producing the film, which has a July 21 start date. Shooting is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. The film is targeted for a June 8, 2007 release.

I went w/ Michael Corleone, Sonny, and Vincent Hanna. Tony Montana was balls to the wall, but was really overacted, he was every bit as much a caricature as John Milton. It was great watching DeNiro and Pacino face off in Heat, although DeNiro gave an even better performance than Pacino.

Al Pacino to play Joe Paterno in upcoming movie?

Word has emerged -- via Mike Fleming's scoop at deadline.com -- that ICM Partners is packaging Pacino for a movie built around Joe Posnanski's book, "Paterno." Pacino, of course, would play former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno, who died in January of lung cancer. Paterno's death came a little more than two months after he was fired by Penn State in the aftermath of child sex abuse allegations against former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky, who was convicted and awaits sentencing on 45 counts of child sexual abuse. Wrote Fleming at deadline.com: "This can either be a feature film or a cable movie, because Shakespeare himself would have had trouble coming up with anything this shocking, and because the issues here still boggle the mind."
