Dye brings a lot to the table as a defensive end. He does a good job using his length to his advantage when coming off the line of scrimmage. Dye is able to keep offensive linemen off of him while he slips by to make the tackle in the backfield or pursue the ball carrier.
There's clearly a lot of room left for him to add muscle mass as he gets older but this past season he did a nice job of breaking free of blockers and dragging ball carriers to the ground.
At this point, Dye is able to physically dominate the man in front of him but it will be interesting to see if he's able to take his game to the next level by developing a strong repertoire of pass rushing moves that could help him get to the quarterback even faster.
Dye has official visits scheduled for Ohio State, Georgia, Miami and Tennessee.

Man I would be thrilled to have our base DE class be Dye and Mathis. This kid's rankings are skyrocketing for a reason.
Same. I saw London Merritt’s name floating around, but I don’t see it happening. He was almost a Bama commit before Saban left. Without him, getting Matthias and Dye would be outstanding.
Don’t forget Shanklin too, another IN DE

“It is my dream school, so this offer means a lot,” Dye told On3. “I grew up following them. Ohio State has had some great players and this was another big offer for me. When I got the offer from Coach Ryan Day, I just felt so blessed and happy… When Coach Day offered, he talked to me about how he liked my frame, how my hustle stood out to him on film and things like that. Every offer is a blessing and this one was another one for me.”

“Coach Johnson was even better than I thought. He was everything I thought he would be like plus more. We talked about everything. He talked to me about some things I could do better. What I liked most about him was he kept it real and wasn’t all about the things I do well. Coach Johnson was genuine and someone I look forward to talking to more.”

The main ones we are currently in on besides Zahir Mathis and London Merritt are Shanklin, Dye, Grady, Justin Hill and Cedric Works. I think they get one of Zion Grady, Shanklin or Dye (in that order of preference) along with Justin Hill for a total of 4 edge guys. Would be very hard however to say no to any those 3 i mentioned OOS Grady/Shanklin/Dye

Just one man's opinion, but I think there is a scenario where we have Mathis/Merritt/Hill/Dye. Hill is very talented but somewhat of a tweener that could be a stand-up edge guy playing more of a LB role, whereas Dye is a true DE. Plus with the DE recruiting woes in recent years and upcoming departures, I say stock up. But to your point, if Dye wants in I don't see how we would say no and it is looking like there is a strong chance Dye does want in.
