Actually we are in the need of a quicker/ game changing TE. I believe frost can do just that if given the chance. I like Hamby, and Nicol is coming along very fine. Athough Nico is just maybe one more year away from being a top TE.

I love having Hall at TE. I always make it like 2nd and one, and line up in the goalline offense, and run a play action pass. I send Hall deep, and get a TD 75% of the time...even won him the Heisman in his Senior year...Oh, you guys were talking about "real" football. My fault. :biggrin:

Ironbuk.... I bet you're the type of player that runs one play OVER AND OVER! haha. For sure I do the same thing too..... I have option right, option left, and dive in the middle and I run audibles to either one of the three directions all the way down the field with smith and pittman! haha

The '03 team didn't seem to have so many players on offense who could make an impact as this "Team".

Benefits of that team (03) was their experience. We were missing a talented playmaker in the backfield and had to rely on Krenzel too much. There seems to be no shortage of playmakers on offense now, with a talented defense that is also young and improving.

Just remember an excited Danielson during the Michigan game right after the TE throwback to Hamby down to the 2 or 3... "Jim Tressel is on fire calling plays right now!!" (This was something I did not anticipate anyone ever saying.)


PS What give BukIp, I fully anticipated a thread arguing the virtues of speficific QBs. I see where your heart is with option right and left.

I do have my go to plays, but running the same crap over and over bores the hell out of me. I like to run and throw alot from the aces bunch formation, but the 'I' is still my formation of choice. I-formation HB option pass is my favorite "cheeser" play. The defense drops into pass coverage, while I run the option normally. If I have a long field ahead of me, I'll stop short of the first down and do the goalline QB boot right, and send Hall deep.

Back to real football. I wasn't aware that we were in need of a TE either. Least of all a guy that hasn't shown that he can block a DB on a regualr basis, let alone a DE of LB. Maybe Hall just has problems with those slippery little DB's, but I don't know if moving him to TE would be all that great of a move. Then again, having his speed at TE would be nice, and it's not like he was getting that much PT at WR toward the end of the year. ..what harm would it do to move him?

Now that I've completely thought this through. Hall would be a great TE for us, and should be moved there as soon as spring practice starts. :bicker:

Hall can be a good Flex TE, but we should just tell him that he's playing a tight-slot that needs to block down/or level 2/3 sometimes. Conley has repeated that Hall is adamantly opposed to such a position change but he showed that his bulk doesn't beat the Defense to the endzone if you recall Purdon't.

He needs to run the ropes everyday and run with the parachute on because if he runs for the scouts like he ran on that open field play against Purdidn't he's gonna run a 4.9 and they'll tell him he's a TE or headed to the Rhine Fire (EUROPE).

But you have to admit when MoC was running and they ran the off tackle play to the right side over and over and over and they knew it was coming and they still could not stop it (all regular season that is) that was great, execution at its finest

well I don't know if it was so much execusion IMO rather it being maurice clarett just had excellent vision. Remember Ross/Hall didn't fair too well against teams with the same line.


haha well guys you know I'm a Troy fan, and I also never gave up hope on Zwick either tho. However, living down here 15 minutes away from Virginia Tech I have come to watch how effective a mobile QB really is. Now yes I'd love to discuss how I'd like to see troy start, but what zwick did in the last game was remarkable and I declare them dead even as of right now. Either way I believe we'll be leaps and bounds above last year!

Yeah if it was my call I'd put Ginn at QB like in Ps2 and run option right and left and always motion the reciever to one side of the field so no one is ever on the side I wanna run to ( dont' worry the defenses won't ever figure it out) haha.

ok no problem I'll go create Maurice Wells/Anderson Russell on Ps2 and see how they do....

Well Since I've already done that... haha..... Maurice straight up wins the heisman his last two years and gets 1,000 years his first year as a buckeye.... for sure I kinda cheated with his stats....

I'm anxious however to really see our players we got! very small class but very talented!

Who does everything think plays alot? I'll say these in order of playing time next year.

1.Jamario O'neil
2.Alex Boone
3.Doug Worthington
4.Maurice Wells
5.Freddie Lenix (pick your dark horse here).

I think Jamario will be given a shot. He has been a Buckeye for almost 3 years now since he verbaled when he was a TY tiger. Sorry Mansfield joke thrown in there. I hope he is as good as advertised. He would be a mean combo with the emergence of Yobouty.

I think if Lenix goes safety he may get some time at the mid-end of the year. From all I heard he is a big hitter and can run. I think we lacked that Nickey/Doss knock em dead hits last year when Salley got hurt.

Boone will be much further ahead if he can make it to spring ball. If not then I think he has a tough time cracking the top five. OL is tough to start as a freshman (unless you are Mr. Pace that is).

With MoWells it is his job to loose in my opinion. Come in, run hard and take the starting position. Sounds simple enough huh.

Worthington I think has the best chance for some serious playing time. The way we rotate the D-line makes him a perfect target with his size and speed to make an immediate impact on a sub-par D-line.
