Football schedules announced: Illini line up MU, MAC, I-AA teams

The University of Illinois will play multiple nonconference football games against teams from the Mid-America Conference and I-AA conferences as well as a four-year series with Missouri in the next five seasons.

But the Illini do not have any nonconference games planned against perennial national powers through 2010, according to schedules released Thursday by the school. The schedules include several openings that have yet to be filled.

The Big Ten schedules were announced through 2010 as well.

Illinois will expand to a 12-game schedule next season. The nonconference slate is highlighted by a home meeting with Syracuse and a trip to Rutgers. <script language="javascript"> <!-- // begin DisplayAds("Frame1","",""); // --> </script>

The Illini will face three I-AA opponents in four years, including defending Ohio Valley Conference champion Eastern Illinois in 2006, Western Illinois in 2007 and Illinois State in 2009.

MAC schools on the schedule include Central Michigan in 2006 and Kent State in 2007.

Texas Tech's was way, way, way, way, way, way, way worse. I think they scheduled 3 D-1aa schools this year. Why does everyone pick on Oregon's ooc schedule? Look at LSU's or Florida St.'s or lots of big schools and you'll see they had a just as weak or a weaker ooc schedule. People act like Oregon played high school teams.

Kansas State was so afraid of playing anybody that they scheduled the USC Trojans twice, playing in L.A. in 2001 and in Kansas in 2002. Of course, K-St. won both of those games. :biggrin:

I mean at this time I don't see anything wrong with an Ill. scheduling maybe one team like that, b/c they can't honestly believe they could go schedule top 25 teams in OOC and win one of them. They have Rutgers on their schedule which is an up and coming program.

But it is teams like TTech, and Kst. who have decent records at the end of the year and expect the media to be in love with them, but who have they played. That is why we would of got the nod over Oregon no matter if we werent ranked 4th or not. They had a OOC game against Montana and we went out of our way to play Texas.

And someone said Florida St. always scheduled patsies well thye always had UF on their schedule, their problem was always just the fact that the ACC sucked and it seemed like they never had a tough game.

Yes, playing the All Cupcake Conference helped FSU until they made it a real conference by including the only decent teams in the Big East.

They still played the Citadel this year though. And they struggled with them in the first half.

Penn State will apply an unholy Ass Thrashing on the Criminoles.
