Illinois Fighting Illini (you'll see)

Actually I believe ThaKid is right in this instance...Thomas and his father were sold on Locks and Illinois early on in the process. The other morons insinuating that OSU did something illegal are the typical Scout clowns but ThaKid's info on Thomas was spot on during his recruitment...up until the day the decision came.

To me it seemed like ThaKid always had quite a good pulse on what was going on in the world of recruiting. My problems with him came with the fact that he thought this knowledge translated to him being an expert at evaluating talent, something his homerism definitely put an orange-tinted spin on.

That's an understatement. He surpassed the legendary xrayrandy for orange tinted hyperbole.

After his dad contacted me on here and I got the talking to Flash through Facebook because I wanted to find out if it's really his dad. It was and Flash was telling me all through his recruitment how Illinois led. The silent part is what I heard (And never actually confirmed but hinted by him). OSU just came on strong. Congrats though he's a baller and I still wish UI would've gotten him.

I'm shocked. Facebook? Who would have ever guessed?

More on Zook trying to fill DC and (now) reportedly also the Offensive Line spots: Rivals - free

Zook at work
Ron Zook continues to try to revamp his Illinois staff. He reportedly has offered the defensive coordinator job to Penn State defensive line coach Larry Johnson, who is known as a good recruiter. There also are rumblings that Zook is targeting Florida State offensive line coach Rick Trickett for the same post. It would be a huge coup if Zook landed Trickett.

Zook eyes Cincinnati assistant after Johnson says no - Inside Illinois sports

Penn State defensive line coach Larry Johnson has decided to turn down an offer to become Illinois' new defensive coordinator, sources said Thursday.

With Johnson out of the picture, a source said Illini coach Ron Zook will focus his attention on Cincinnati defensive line coach Keith Gilmore, who also is the Bearcats' assistant head coach. Gilmore, a 1981 graduate of Wayne State, moved from from Central Michigan to the Bearcats in 2007 with head coach Brian Kelly, who guided Cincinnati to the Big East title this season and a trip to the Orange Bowl.
