Tressel has always done the same thing, up until this year. By how many offers we are throwing out to recruits, it seems we want to have our kids all committed before the football season starts.illinidarrin;1174727; said:Zook encourages kids to take their time before they commit.
That theory of recruiting has cost us some recruits in the past, but it really shows the recruit a lot about your coaching staff and your program. The recruits seem to really respect that because they see that the coaching staff is putting the recruit's interests in front of their own. It is also nice because after that recruit finally DOES verbal to a school, that kid bleeds the school colors because he is absolutely sure that he committed to the right school for him.
I kinda wish we weren't going for an early end to the recruiting season, because I think we will see more kids verbal to hold their spot and not wait until they are 100% sure they want to be Buckeyes (ala Darrell Givens). Zook's doing the right thing, even if it costs him a recruit here and there (ala Fellows), because those kids that they get will be 100% Illini (ala Scott).
