Illinois got a stop on 3rd down, poised to get the ball back at midfield w/ 8 min left down 2 (due to Fresno's foolish pt chasing), only to see the 'defenseless WR' rule prolong the drive.
The WR reached back for the ball which was overthrown, a illinois safety came up and knocked him to the ground right after it flew over, and the flag was thrown.
I'm all for cracking down on malicious hits, but they are badly distorting the game with these rules.
Now Illinois will have to drive the length of the field with only 3 min left.

That was a laughable spot. The line judge couldn't see it whatsoever, he wasn't anywhere near the yellow line on that play.

That's such a fucking crock of shit. He wasn't within half a yard of the first down and they only got the first down by 2 inches.
