they don't? i would say a big ten championship and a bcs berth are a bit more than nothing.

Or just trying to get over the hump and beat the Bucks........but, :scum4:

It seemed implicit to me that they have nothing left to play for except beating us, which accomplishes winning the b10 and snagging a bcs berth.

If they had NOTHING left to play for, then I wouldn't have been saying that it was a reason they would play well...

that's a pretty big "except."

anyway, as much as we like to denigrate ttun, i would say that an undefeated conference record and a bcs bowl win are still great objectives for their program--on top of beating the buckeyes. sure, beating the buckeyes is necessary for the other two to happen, but they are things to play for nonetheless.

i don't think that a victory over the buckeyes is the only thing that skunkbears are playing for. the terrible losses to appy state and oregon had nothing to do with their upcoming game against the bucks. considering the big ten's reputation, beating the bucks will not adequately dress the wounds from their two losses... in the nation's eyes, that is. beating a bcs team may.

the only reason illiniois was in the game last year was because tressel buttoned it up because troy smith had a thumb injury...he said so today at his presser....i think the illini are talking respect and confident but playing minnesota will do that...i think it will be a LONG day for juice williams....i keep reading how great their front 7 is but i think beanie is going to run through them like taco bell

Anyone have the stats offhand as to the size comparison between their Dline and our Oline? (if not, I'll just take the time to look it up myself)

With the exception of a small LBish Rush End, they have legit size on the D-Line... 260s outside, to 290s inside. They have one kid who goes 320, I believe... a Freshman...

I believe that is (OSU lock!) Josh Brent you refer to.

IMO, it was a combination of Troy's thumb and the elements - I attended that game in person - it was windy, cold, and rainy, which definately did not mesh with our spread type of attack last year. Tressel got an early lead, saw that the D wasn't allowing much, and buttoned it up in the second half. A couple of miscues by our O (fumble & int) and a couple of decent drives by the Illini when our D was on the field the entire second half, and we saw the result. If the weather is good (now the prediction is partly cloudy but dry - high of 53), I think that is to our advantage. I also think our O matches up better given our more power running attack.

31-14 Good Guys!!
:oh:

i think it ends 34-17...playing at illinois is like a wind tunnel....just think osu has too much oline for illinois and the illini will have to pass to move the ball...sacks and pick opportunities

.......but we're not playing @ Illinois lol
