"Barkin' up the wrong tree"
Very, very long story short. Went to the Braves game last night with a friend from High School. Picked him up at his house and said hello to his parents.
His father was ranting and raving about the latest televangelist on TV and the discussion turned to Jim and Tammy Baker of the 1980's. I didn't know much about them, but his father said that in his day - this guy made Joel Osteen look like Peanuts. He mentioned he even built his own theme park!
So I got up this morning and was bored (waiting for the Dawgs to kick off at noon) and starting trying to find pictures of Bakers old theme park. What I found was an amazing site called IllicitOhio.com. The site developer is from Ohio and his hobby is to travel to old/close Ohio amusement parks, snap photos of some of the wear/tear and post them.
He did a whole segment on Bakers Park/hotel. A large feature on Idora park outside of Youngstown, Chippewah Lake Park near Medina, Euclid Beach Park...etc
It's a little antiquated, but I've spent all morning reading about the wonderful history of some of these places in your state. Amazing stuff. Check it out if you aren't already slamming drinks and getting ready for "Da U"
