I have been convinced for some time now that the office in which I work operates on a Alice Through the Looking Glass mentality. Last Friday was the perfect example:
I walked out into our front lobby and the boss was hanging a plaque on the wall. As I went over to see what the award was for, I noticed right away that it was not for the entire office, but only for my boss. I thought this was strange since such an award would generally be placed in the person's individual office, but since my boss has an ego the size of Pittsburgh it didn't surprise me too much.
However, once the boss was finished one of my co-workers took a look at it and began laughing. I asked her what was so funny and she stated that he gave the award to himself. Not believing someone would be absurd enough to do such I thing, I asked her how she knew this. She stated that he had asked for her opinion on the wording of the award several weeks ago, she simply didn't know he was giving it to himself when he asked.
I work for one very strange and idiotic boss. Anyone else have similar stories to share?
