  • I never watched this show in its first season, but I caught the final episode of season one last week leading into the second season. These guys have some balls.

As if driving over frozen lakes wasn't enough, this year they're driving over frozen ocean and hauling some big ass shit. The tides under the ice can cause it to fracture. Drive over that and you're a dead man.

I don't get into many reality shows, but I do like Deadliest Catch and this one. Must be the Arctic, and the fact that these guys are taking the risks as part of earning a living - these jobs existed before TV covered them.

They aren't just put someplace for the sake of making a TV show.

History Channel and Discovery have put out many of these type shows(Deadliest Catch, Dirty Jobs, Axmen) and I thoroughly enjoy them all. It's amazing the risks some guys take just to make a living.

I loved Season 1. Just what these guys go through to make a buck, and a nice buck it is. Plus some good personalities to boot. And ya can't beat the Canadien accents eh?

I was doing some survey work for a potential retailer up in the Winnipeg area once and had the opportunity to visit some of their remote locations (Norway House and I believe Berens River was the other location). Anyway I asked how they supplied these locations and the answer was during the summer by ship and during the winter by truck. One of the customers in the shop was a trucker and he explained that during the winter they drive on the lake. We flew over it on the way in and it was a huge lake with nothing but miles and miles of pine trees surrounding it. He said he had been driving on the lake for a few years now and he still wasn't use to it as when he was on the lake he could hear the ice cracking all the time. He further told me that he always drove with the window part way down and with one hand on the door handle just in case he had to make a quick getaway.......

    The show's addicting...

Very much so. I watched commercials for it while watching other shows and never bothered to catch it. Until one weekend, with NOTHING to do, I ended up catching a marathon and watched pretty much every episode all in one shot. Couldn't tear myself away!

I finally watch the first episode of the new season... Drew is such a pussy... I keep hoping he'll fall through the ice... but I guess you need to actually drive a fucking truck for that to happen... Hugh will be fun to watch again...

too bad TJ isn't on this season...
