There a lot of these players who do not hardly qualify to win or even be in the top five. Some did not gain fame until they got to the pros.
Red Grange
OJ Simpson
are the only two who might be, the rest don't

I realize that there are glowering atrocities everywhere on this list, but the fact that are actually going to claim that there are 5 better college football players than Jim Thorpe isn't even comical anymore. Its really kinda sad.

For some odd reason, and because this is ESPN, and seeing their USC lovefest from a couple years ago, I have this sick feeling that we haven't seen the last of Matt Leinart.

I wouldn't even know how to respond if I saw Leinart on this list above Jim Thorpe, Jim Brown, Earl Campbell, anybody really. They already have Bush and Young, I dont think Leinart makes it.

No way Leinart makes it ahead of VY or Bush, who were both better than him during the same years.

Not that he should be ahead of any of the other guys on the list, that is.

Tony Dorsett at #7 is so fucking atrocious it's not even funny. Seriously, what the fuck is their criteria?

Dorsett was a great back and he had the career rushing yard record (broke #45's record) but I agree this list is nearly as pathetic as CW's player development program.

I've been watching College football for 35 years and the bias towards todays players is sad. What about Billy Sims, Anthony Davis, Barry Sanders, like others have said O.J.

It looks like the criteria is based on, play for USC, scUM or ND and move up 50 spots above actual value.

Is that supposed to be Anthony Thompson from Indiana? Its not the RB from Wisky I hope. I quit looking at this list two weeks ago when Archie was picked in the 20's. From that alone you knew these numbnuts were clueless and they just keep proving it. How the hell is Thorpe not at least top 2? Sickening.

Still 5 spots left....

I have a feeling OJ will be on there, and I'd guess that Sanders would join him as well.
