I think the Bucks made history tonight . . .

Some more history made at the Texas game...

Attendance.....

Previous stadium record: 85,123, Vs. North Texas, 9-2-06

New record: 89,422, Vs. Ohio State, 9-09-06

Also set the record for the largest amount of people to ever watch a football game in the state of Texas.

hmm, thats pretty cool teddy. where did you find this?

I was looking on Wikipedia, and searched Texas' stadium to see how big that monster video screen that they had was, and saw it.
A new, temporary, bleacher seating section has been added behind the south endzone for the 2006 season. In mid-July 2006, The University of Texas announced that they had completely sold out Memorial Stadium for the upcoming 2006 season. This announcement meant that for the first time in the history of the university, tickets will not be sold on an individual game basis. The bleachers allowed a new attendance record of 85,123 to be set on September 2 vs North Texas.[10] This was quickly surpassed by the September 9th game vs Ohio State University. The attendance for that game was 89,422[10], which stands as the largest number of people to ever watch a football game in the state of Texas.

How do you fit 4,000+ more people in than the previous record? There are only so many seats in a stadium. That's like 110,000 people watching a game at the shoe...does not compute.
The Shoe's listed capacity is 101,568...and we regularly squeeze over 105K in there.

I'll admit the screen was a monster. I was sitting right behind TBDBITL and the screen was clean across the field in the opposite end zone. But it was crystal clear and massive.

My guess is that the stadium wasn't filled for the North Texas. Atleast in a way. The capacity of the stadium is 80,082, 85,123 with the temp bleachers.

Which is odd, that they had the exact same number of people as the capacity for the first game. That doesn't happen very often.

Well what I'm trying to say is, basically that alot of those extra people could've been "standing room only" and lux. box people.

Look at it like this, Ohio Stadium's capacity is 102,000 and change. The record is around 105,500 and change. It is possible to have more than the capacity.

the attendance surpasses the capacity because of reporters, analysts, radio commentators, press, special visitors(lebron james, eddie george, matthew mcconnaughey, emmit smith, etc...)

capacity is number of seats generally.

Exactly. The attendance counts everyone in the stadium except stadium staff, and both teams and coaching/training staffs. You saw Herbie/Corso/Fowler in there, that's 3 of the 90k.

Consider the following:

According to Stassen.com, the three winningest programs of all time through the end of the 2005 season and therefore as of the beginning (and I'm pretty sure the end) of tonight's tOSU-UT game are:

1 Michigan 0.74421 849 280 36 1165

2 Notre Dame 0.74352 811 266 42 1119

3 Texas 0.71697 803 307 33 1143

I rather doubt that any other program has ever beaten the three winningest programs of all time (as of the time of the victories) in a four-game span. I don't know how one would check something like that, but I've sent the question on to Pete Fiutak at collegefootballnews.com for further review. Maybe he'll address it at some point . . .

Yes, but also consider how many of these games were played in the 'Shoe.

(for the casual fan, that answer is zero)

yup... i read somewhere that over 650 media credentials were passed out...
and the Rose, Orange, Sugar, and Fiesta Bowl Committees were present, as well as reps from the Heisman Committee...

i also read that Texas only has room for about 120 media members...

I would assume that was in the press box. There was lots of media on the field also.

If we don't win the rest of our games, none of those stats will mean shit.

The point is that it's a nice piece of trivia and getting the word out (as I hope Fiutak will since I e-mailed him) can't hurt our national rep. and recruiting generally. The comment a couple of posts up about none of the games being at home is nice too.
