Actually that's another thing that leads to me getting sick. If I've had a couple of consecutive nights of hard boozing that really wears down my immune system.

Yeah big time. I went for about 2 months with being sick on and off mostly because I was still drinking. after a couple good hard nioght on the bottle though you're bound to get sick.

I have deduced me getting sick down to two things - stress and sleep.
That does it... I'm going home... too much stress right now... and I'm tired... plus here's BinMich spreading germs all thru this thread... in addition to making everyone at his work sick

I stopped calling them Daycare centers soon after I realized the correct term was The Germ Centers .. it didn't take long to get old school and tell the wife she's staying home with the critters instead of everyone always being sick

Oh... and Thump is absolutely correct.. latest studies say Echenisia is worthless... altho I'm still sold on nuking myself with vitamin Zinc when I get a cold... works for me

small tangient... but I got anal on a personal research project I did on multi-vitamins ... I did a spreadsheet and comparison of about 10 different multi-vitamins.. I used to use GNC MegaMan... which actually were relatively expensive...

To my amazement... the winner by far.. was the housebranded Rite-Aid multi-vitamin... kicked butt over all others plus was the most inexpensive of all !!! my 23 year old hulk insists on sticking with Flintstones !!! he loves 'em... and only started them halfway thru OSU .. they faired in the middle of my analysis.. about same as MegaMan...

what other term could one use to describe a person that felt they had to do a detailed analysis on vitamins... and looked up every component along with the dosage... contained in 10 different vitamins... then put it into a spreadsheet for comparison ???

No it doesn't, nothing more than a placebo. Trust me, I took it up until last year.

They did a study on it and showed that taking Echinacea has no affect on your immune system.

I take a multi-vitamin every moring and like NYB said, make sure to get enough sleep, that is crucial.

A final thing I've found that makes a HUGE difference is making sure you have some kind of humidifying device in your house in the winter time.

You are much more likely to get illnesses in the winter because your sinuses dry out making them more receptive to infection.

I just recently installed a whole-home humidifying system on my furnace and already notice a difference.

Um, OCD!

I bought one package of vitamins from GNC. My wife, nurse, looked at the list and some of the dosages were so high they were considered unsafe. I decided to stick to the old Centrum.

I'm already past the contagious state. That was Monday when I spent my day spreading germs.
You get that diagnosis from Tibor? I just talked to a gal who was telling me she had a killer flu last week.. and felt she was completely over it Sunday... I still looked at her like "you have cooties.. back up.. I don't want that crud"

That's an interesting study, NJ. I'm curious as to what made Rite-Aid "the winner"?

I take the GNC multivitamin for vegetarians (high in Bs), and I've wondered if I'm just wasting my $$. Obviously each person's body has its own needs, so not every vitamin is going to be for everyone.

I consulted my Michigan State MSN. Of course, she may have just wanted my whiney ass out of the house.
