Im wondering for anyone who has or currently goes to Ohio State which dorms are the best, as well as any advice on college in general at Ohio State as it is the school I am pretty sure I am going to go to as no other school can compete in my mind(not my parents though).

congratulations, the standards for getting in get higher and higher every year

most dorms on north campus are quieter with more secluded rooms (for the most part), if you like to study they are the place for you

south dorms are more social and more fun, they're the place to be in my opinion, of course I lived on south campus, everyone I talk to who lived on north campus thinks it was better, but trust me, south campus is best

my advice for college is this: GO TO CLASS, don't skip classes and try to do all nighters out of the book, most professors don't even teach out of the book and most questions come directly from the lectures

in fact, I stopped buying books for any class at about the beginning of my junior year and I still did fine, you might want to buy them to begin with just to see what works best for you, but the point is, go to class and college becomes so much easier

this is, of course, assuming you are going into something other than pre-med or engineering or something like that, if that is the case they buy the books and study your ass off

good luck

I thought the same thing at first, but I think he means his expected graduation date from OSU is 2013, which would put his first year in school as fall of '09

which reminds me, here's some more advice, don't wear your varsity jacket to college or bring anything else from high school to college, including any girlfriend you might have

Ah... that makes more sense.

Congrats then!

North campus dorms are sweet, lived in Scott House for 2 years. I'd definitely advise you to go to class, like Buckeye86 said, almost every professor I've had takes midterm questions directly from lectures. Don't ride a bike around campus, you'll only [censored] people off. (See Here)

Get involved with intramurals. Some of the best times I've had here.

Congratulations!!

As a current college freshman, I have a few words of advice for you:

1. Go to class
2. Meet as many people as you can as soon as you get there.
3. Get involved in anything and everything you find interest in.
4. Go to class

and most of all... HAVE FUN but DON'T be stupid. Enjoy.

1) Go to class....
2)...but don't spend ALL your time studying
3) If you're from Ohio, don't limit your social life to the kids from your h.s.
4) Lose the h.s. girlfriend--you will eventually so might as well get it out of the way in the beginning.

BTW, what school do your parents want you to attend?

#3 is huge. the kids i know who limited their social life to friends from high school never grew much. they stayed secluded and now that college is over they have nothing to show for it (socially at least).

And if your great great uncle Clifford Heffelfinger (#45) played at OSU in 1939 and your cousin Evan Jablonka (#84) plays right now, they will put you on their practice squad. But that doesn't mean you'll dress for the games though. You can major in Sports Journalism, but don't stop there, because you should try to dress and make the team.

Congrats and good luck!
