I almost got capped by an OG

First of all, if you haven't heard me say it before, I live in the hood.

Anyway, this guy comes walking down the street. I swore he was wearing Ohio State clothing. It wasn't a red and gray sweatshirt, it was Scarlet. So anyway, I kept staring at him to see if the writing on the front said "Ohio State" as he got closer.

Eventually he got close to me, and I couldn't see the writing because of the way he was turned. So I said, loudly, "O-H!"

He turned all pissed and asked what I was saying.

I was laughing because I saw his shirt said "Ecko" or "ekko" or whatver that brand is, and I felt kinda stupid.

Anyway he started asking if I thought I was funny and told me that if I did he "oughtta cap my ass fo' sho'"

Well the way he said "fo' sho'" sounded just like the guy on the Grand Theft Auto, which this OG was probably learning from, so I lauged again. I was then politely informed that I must stop laughing lest I be capped.

I told him I thought his shirt was an Ohio State shirt, and apologized. . . That was that.

But it was the first time I was threatened to be "capped." I thought it was funny, anyway. . .

The hood that I grew up in was totally rough. Most everyone carried a gun and was all on edge. It made it real hard to figure out who to mug. Usually I would wait for some unsuspecting college punk on his way for a late night beer run.

I was crossing Marietta Street downtown in Atlanta, with the light, and she was trying to turn left across the crosswalk I was using. I moved out of the way and she screeched away.

My best run in with a gangster wannabe occurred in high school. It was after Tu Pac just got shot. We had a lame ass assembly going on with a chessy ass band playing covers of No Doubt and some other bands. Towards the end they asked for special requests from the audience. I stood up and said "play some TuPac", which drew a chorus of laughs, but pissed off the thug wannabes of the school. One of the girls then responded to me with "You best get TuPac out sho mauf". Then they all were staring me down for a while. After the assembly they all waited around and started talking shit to me when I was leaving. I then told them that I was dead serious, Tu Pac was one of my favorites, which really pissed them off. Nothing really came of it, but funny none the less. My buddies and I still laugh at that incident, funny shit.

Oh, another story occurred when I worked at Sprint in Toledo. We had a brotha come in one day who didn't pay his bill. He wanted his phone turned back on, but was past due. We told him sorry, but can't do. So as he left the store he said, "I'm gonna come back and light this whole motherfuckin store up", which drew some ackward smiles. Normally I would have laughed, but with the madness in the world it makes you a little nervous.
