about 60 miles due south of me now and still heading more west than north.

winds just starting to shift and starting to come from the south.
so now i need this thing to pick up the pace and get on land fast.

water outside the levees just starting to creep up a little.
nothing we can’t handle as long as it keeps moving and gets out of here quick.

a lengthy stall would really suck.

water temporarily overtopped our levee.

sheriffs inmates have widened it and made it taller with sandbags. have about 2-3 foot of wiggle room as of now.

local contractor is raising up a road to the pump station as a makeshift levee between the overtop and the town i live in.

my sister hometown is now recommended evacuation area due to water overtopping their levee.

chicken shit storm dicked around out there juuuuuust long enough to build up this water.

N'awlins dodged everything so far. We have gas, water, power and cable. But at least it was an excuse to get both generators up and running in case we lose it tomorrow due to saturated ground making trees topple in a minor breeze. My 2008 Hurricane Gustave generator (3K watt $199 Harbor Freight special) started at the second pull. My propane generator too.

After almost 20 years camping with the Boy Scouts and sleeping on the ground in a tent, having gas, hot water and enough power to run my refrigerator and a room AC and lights/TV is down right civilized. Really, you had me at potable water and a flush toilet.

And I would eat three plates of that Nute. Stay safe.
