How much would you pay to keep Jim Tressel

He's already making that. Ante up!

Terms of Jim Tressel's contract:
2006 -- $2,378,900
2007 -- $2,300,900
2008 -- $2,325,900
2009 -- $2,400,900
2010 -- $2,500,900
2011 -- $2,575,900
2012 -- $2,675,900

As we all know, if he wins next week, those numbers are only going up, and rightfully so.

I like what I'm reading
top pay in CF and tOSU should compensate him no matter what the cost.

The University should go above and beyond the call to pay JT

Ginn backs his coach, won't 'dog' Tressel

By Tom Archdeacon

Thursday, January 04, 2007
With Nick Saban getting like $32 million over eight years to jump from the NFL to the Alabama coaching job, Ted Ginn Jr. was asked what Jim Tressel was worth:
"Fitty ... Fitty million ... If you can push kids to be the best on and off the field and teach 'em to be a man and take responsibility, you deserve it."

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. ? With the Alabama cheer of the day being "(Bank) Roll Tide" as it won its pursuit of coach Nick Saban by throwing nearly $4 million per year at him for the next eight seasons, it will be interesting to see whether Ohio State?s response is "Let?s go (more) Bucks" for Jim Tressel.

I think you have to pay JT what he wants, which I don't think will be god awful since he is usually pretty reasonable about his contracts.

That being said, I think these college coach contracts are getting out of hand. As we all know, it is being done by schools like Bama and ND who are desperate to turn their programs around.

The problem is, if you pay your coach 4 mil a year, those extra costs are going to trickle down to you and I through ticket costs and merchandise.
