How many bones have you broken?

My left forearm (both bones) once.

All my fingers at some point during my time playing football.

Blew out both ACLs (I know it is not a bone, but that shit hurt and was longer recovery and rehab than any of my broken bones).

That's about it, I think.

The second worst pain I have ever felt was when my dad stitched up my forearm with a suture kit for horses we had in the horse trailer. I told him after he was done with the 12 stitches and i rode an hour later that he was never going to talk me into anything like that again!

---Had several carpal bones in my right wrist shattered by a baseball bat.

---Broke the proximal phalanx in my big toe when running down some bleachers (toe got caught).

---Broke two ribs hitting a branch while falling out of a tree.

---Broke my collarbone in jump school (didn't tell anyone because I didn't want to get dropped from the class).

---Fractured C7 vertebra (shrapnel from RPG).

---Broke left humerus (blast/shrapnel/door parts from IED).

--Broke various fingers a number of times (mostly from baseball & sparring).

Wow man: I didn't know you got nailed while serving. Glad you're okay-- that is some scary shit I can't fathom.

And the colon guy wins though. He wasn't even able to have sex for months I bet.

Let's see here...

  • every finger on both hands
  • my right wrist
  • my right ulna (when my elbow finally "exploded" after the 12th dislocation, the bone broke where the ligaments attach)
  • right radius - same final dislocation
  • when I dislocated my shoulder and tore my biceps tendon, the tendon pulled a piece of the bone and the doctors said it was technically broken....
  • My nose (2 times, once in wrestling, once rough-housing with the wifey)
  • When I broke my nose the first time, it was during a wrestling match were the kid I was about to takedown decided to knee me in the face. I have some sinus damage under my left eye. Technically not a broken bone, but it gets messy/bloody sometimes when the weather gets super-dry.
  • my right big toe (baseball again)
  • Do teeth count? I had 3 teeth chipped by an errant throw during warm-ups before a baseball game my senior year in High School.
No where near what some of you other guys have been putting (especially you Muck, good Lord), but I had my own parking space at Mount Carmel East from 1997-1999

For the record the RPG attack was in Somalia.

The IED was when I was a souless mercenary (ie civilian) plying my skills in the fertile crescent...so don't feel too bad for me. Besides the the fracture wasn't that bad...it was the sepsis afterwards that really sucked.

I broke my right hand playing football after landing on it so hard my wrist bent all the way back.

About a month after my right hand was all healed I broke my left hand, again playing football, after landing on it while carrying the ball with two linemen on top of me.

I still don't regret playing the game.
