Scheduled a weeks vacation to job hunt and secure interviews.
First one is on Thursday. I'm literally working out at my own gym
At 5am before anyone gets in so I don't have to answer any questions
On my little break. Had to tell the overnight desk kid to shut his mouth.
In a polite way.... With a $20.

2nd interviews and Wonderlic test went well. Confident I scored in the upper 20's/low 30's at the least, and that's without finishing :smash: However, the excel test I received was crap. Why do you not allow me to use shortcuts? I did horrible in this. Even though I knew 90-95% of the questions. So hopefully that doesn't come back to bite me in the butt, since the job is using excel consistently.

Furlough briefings, figuring out which day I will have to miss without affecting my projects, trying to get everyone lined up on my shift so they won't have any issues either.

And I got my house in springfield into a land contract agreement. Busy ass day.

Had two interviews on my week off. Both went well. One is for facility management (commercial property) pays quite good. The other is for internal IT. Both I could see myself doing long haul. Respectable companies with solid careers paths. I've already received some feedback on the IT job. The 3 people (separately) that I met with had nothing but positive things to say. I was essentially extended an offer contingent on a background and drug screening.

Got an email on the facility management position as well expressing further employment interest. Should be about another week, maybe 2 before I have to start making some decisions.

Either way. When I'm given the "full offer"... I'm going to really start letting people know (In a professional, sarcastic manner) around here just how badly they suck at their jobs. On top of the constant headache they provide for me.

It will be glorious.

Well I ended up not getting the job. Came down to me and another guy. This is now the 3rd time this same scenario has happened to me the past year.

Yet again, snatched defeat by the jaws of victory :sad2:

HR peeps:

Interviewed for a position that would make my life 10x better. Felt great about the interview. Better than I did about most others I've ever done. That was 2 weeks ago. I hadn't heard a thing. Made myself forget about the position, assumed another candidate was chosen, and it was back to my crappy job. Although it was odd to have not even gotten an email, I had given up on any prospects of getting it. Not that 2 weeks is long, but this is a small-medium company and a position that I had been told was needing filled quickly.

Anyway, out of nowhere, I finally got a phone call/voicemail today saying they "had an update about the position" and to "call back as soon as possible." ???

I wasn't able to reach them back at their office, but left a message and will contact them tomorrow. My question is, what should I be expecting? I've tried to not get my hopes up and I can see this going both ways. If I was passed over, a voicemail would have been just fine stating that. I also wouldn't have minded a voicemail stating an offer. I guess my confusion lies with the "call back." Why have me call back just to tell me I wasn't chosen? But also, why not just state in the message I have an offer and to call to discuss details?

What's the thinking here?

Sincerely,

Overthinking Job Searcher
